In regards to your question about the RX 300 sound system. I own a 2005 RX 330 with the Levinson Radio, and I am real pleased with it. It comes with eleven speakers and is very clear and no distortion. My last Lexus was a 2002 RX 300 and had the premium radio. I was also pleased with the quality of the radio. Maybe you should have the radio or speakers checked out. I defiantly feel that the Levinson Radio sounds better. The louder you play it the better it sounds, no distortion.
#3559 of 3942 CAMERA REPLACEMENT UNAVAILABLE!!
Oct 21, 2003 (10:02 am)
The backup camera on my RX 330 recently failed (no apparent reason) at about 25,000 miles. The dealer told me they'd had this happen on only one other 330. They ordered the part and expected to receive it overnight. However, the next day they called and told me the replacement camera is on "national backorder" and that it could be as much as SEVERAL MONTHS before it is available.
I can't imagine how that is possible. If they're still building the thing why can't they come up with this part?
Moreover, this is a clear breach of warranty, which under the law of most states requires the warranty repair to be completed within a reasonable time. (Although I have not yet delved into the "secret document" to see if there is some unanticipated exception in the 330 warranty for camera replacement; cannot imagine that there would be, however.) I intend to write Lexus and tell them that as far as I'm concerned they've just extended the entire vehicle warranty for the period it takes to get the camera replaced. At minimum, I believe they are subject to some sort of liability for their inability to repair/replace the camera within a reasonable time.
How the he** does this experience fit within the concept of superior customer service???
#3560 of 3942 Turning Off the Navigation System 2005 RX330
Aug 24, 2005 (12:39 pm)
I've just received my 2005 RX-330 FWD with Nav system version 4.2. and have two questions concerning it's operation.
1.- How can I get rid of the opening screen that requires "I accept" everytime I turn on the car?
2.- How can I turn off the Nav screen if I know where I'm going and don't need it on?
#3561 of 3942 2005 Lexus RX 330: AWD vs FWD
Aug 24, 2005 (2:43 pm)
I live in Texas and am looking to buy the RX 330. However, I am still a bit undecided about whether or not I will be getting the AWD or FWD. Here in Fort Worth, snow and ice are a rarity(probably once or twice a year). We get a ton of rain in the Spring but otherwise our weather is very good. I don't see myself moving for the forseeable future unless it is down south to Austin.
Lexus owners in Texas or the South...do I really need AWD?

Question 1 - you can't, frustrating isn't it after your 2000th time hitting "I agree"
Question 2 - its in one of the menus, Display I think, there is an option to turn off the map display.
#3563 of 3942 Tow Wiring '05 RX 330

Tow Wiring '05 RX 330 Picking up my '05 RX 330 in 2 weeks. I'll install the tow hitch (Curt) myself. What do I need to do to hook up my existing trailer wiring to the vehicle. Any other advice on this topic is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I installed a trailer hitch and wiring on my 2005 RX 330. My RX was set up for trailer towing, but it did not have a hitch or the wiring harness. I would suggest that you purchase a wiring harness from the dealer. Not cheap ($40 to $50), but I did not want to void my warranty by cutting and spicing the wiring. It will have the necessary connection fitting to connect directly to a blank plastic wiring connection that is located on the driver's side of the trunk area. You will have to remove the interior panel to get at the connection point. There is even a hole trough the metal in the bottom of the trunk area to run the wiring.
I had a hard time finding where to connect the harness. When I called the dealer, they told me where to look, but they were wrong. Once I found where to connect the harness, it only took a few minutes to install. Spent more time tying to find the connection point, then to actually install it.
If you have a problem, please email me and I will try to explain in greater detail how to find the connection point.

Thanks Rich, I'll keep that in mind. Which hitch did you go with? I looked at the "Curt" Hitches and they look pretty good. Class 2.5 with no drilling. I read somewhere to avoid the "Hidden Hitch" brand. Thanks
#3566 of 3942 3M Auto Clear Bra Worth The Price
Aug 26, 2005 (5:32 pm)
I've been looking at putting a 3M clear film "bra" on the front end of my crystal white RX-330. Total price for bumper and part of the hood is $450 installed. Does anyone have experience with this product? And if so, would you recommend it?
