I will return my leased 330xi in December...I just bought new tires now for $780, Continental RFT, 225/45 R17. I will get about 9,000 miles on these babies before I rturn it in. The car feels like new again! The old tires had 23K on them but would not make it to December by my estimate.

I have some nicks and one slight ding which I need to get an estimate for.

Regards,
OW

Steering wheel lockup-
i have an 06 E90 325 and have experienced this 'steering wheel lockup' semi frequently, no pattern detected as yet.

put in key, hit start but steering wheel (yellow) indicator lights up and wheel locks, car wont start.

have to pull key out, wait a second, start process again, until car will start.

took car in for annual service today, dealer 'reprogrammed' computer--we'll see if that works-

if not, they indicated a replacement of steering component?

other than that, and of course, RFT, car is wonderful-

leaning towards GFT Michelin Pilot PS2 at Costco (price includes everything mit tax), seems quite competitive with Tire Rack prices-

Shipo, any advice on GFT (sport pkg) brand/model? I enjoy the grip ive had with the Bridgestone 050 RFT (140 treadwear), but im no autocrosser-just very normal driving style, no racing-

Thought all cars do this? You move the wheel left or right a bit and it starts.

Reprogramming did the trick in my case. Hope the same goes for you.

Yeah, but most release the lock when you put the key in and turn it. Several E90/92's haven't been doing that.

My e46 and e90 (with comfort access) always required me to move the wheel slightly to unlock. Shrug.

Moving the wheel from side to side, be it slightly or firmly, does not do the trick. This is a problem, not usual things. If I recall correctly, mega re-starts and patience were the only things that worked.

Automatic Transmission Quirk by hpmctorque

I read in a BMW enthusiast magazine that the automatic transmission in the 3-Series has an annoying characteristic, but it gave no details about what exactly is annoying. Sorry if this topic was covered in earlier posts, but since it would take a long time to find it, can someone please fill me in on what the problem is?

The article went on to say that if you find it difficult to live with the run-flat tires and the automatic transmission quirk, maybe you'd just be happier with a Corolla. That's strange advice, but it piqued my interest to find out just what it is about the transmission that's objectionable. I'd appreciate it if someone could fill me in on this.

Better yet, make it a Prius!

Seriously, I've had more than my fair share of problems with my 2006 330i, but I have no idea what automatic transmission quirk you are talking about.
