Did you lease or buy, David? I leases my '06 330xi and outside of a wiring harness change due to failure of the Air Bag warning system, the car has been perfect (ahem, except for the RFT issue).

My strategy was lease in case of the situation you are in. I plan to lease from now on.

OW

OW,

I'm leasing the car and boy am I glad that I did. It will be someone else's problem and not my problem after the warranty and free maintenance period expire.

It's good to know that your car has been so comparatively trouble free. Perhaps I was just unlucky. If I can come around to that view, I will be more tempted to lease another one (well, not exactly another one since the 330i no longer exists).

Regards,

David

Should I be feeling the heat from the transmission? by manualguy

I have a 2006 325i with manual transmission. This morning I had the a/c off and the sunroof open while driving to the train station. It is only a 5 mile ride with about 12 traffic lights. At one of the red lights, my hand strayed to the leather pouch surrounding the stick shift and I could feel that it was much warmer than the 65F air. No other part of the car inside felt warm.

Is this normal?

iPod Integration - 2008 328xi by mmenta

After searching these forums and the net I am still unsure of whether to buy the iPod integration option. I went for a test drive but the dealer did not appear to be know too much either and suggested that I could just use the auxilary input. I do not plan to get the idrive and I have a 3rd generation iPod. Do the existing radio/steering wheel controls merit the the integration cost ($400)? I presume the "ram din" connector http://www.sik.com/ram_din.php may suffice?

I have a 2006 330i, and I have been using the auxiliary input for my mini-ipod. It works OK. I think the primary advantage of integration is that you can control your ipod through the car's audio system controls rather than through the ipod itself. I'd go for integration if you plan on listening to your ipod a lot in the car. I rarely use my ipod in the car. I mostly listen to sat radio instead.

Lease End Up Experience by nearlydad

Could you share your experience when you returned a lease car and did not buy anything from the dealer? How much did you pay to return the car? My lease will end up in Jun. BMW Finance sent me a scarily article showing how much I may need to pay if I do not buy/lease the car or another BMW. The mail even said, I have to pay for a CD changer which has been never installed to the lease. Sales and Leasing Manager at my local dealer told me I may need to pay at least $1,000 for tires if I do not start a new lease. I will buy a Toyota minivan (it was a big decision after BMW.). I would like to know how much I really have to pay to return the car. The dealer does not tell exactly during pre-inspection. My BMW 325i 06 is at very good condition. Thaks,

The lease end materials are available online. You should check your tread-depth. If you are below their marker, then get on tirerack.com or get to costco/sams club and replace those tires! RFTs aren't cheap but you can find 16s/17s cheaper online.

Otherwise, 1 month before returning your car, schedule an appointment with ANY BMW dealer you like and let them know you want an estimate on possible problem areas for lease return. They will check your car and give you a list of possible areas that may cost you money (always cosmetic). They will do this if it's a decent dealership.

It sounds like your current dealer is a jerk. Check elsewhere. You can return your car to any dealership and really that could be the difference.

Thank you for your reply, Blueguydotcom. I looked at information the BMW provided and web site of BMW finance. I would like to know the real experience. Have you returned your lease car?
