Ignition Coils? Didn't you get rid of your Jetta for your 330i ZHP? LOL! Just busting chops!

Thanks for the great write up on your E90 test drive.

YES, thats why Im still decidin, either the 05 G35 Coupe, its sleek, all you need is aftermarket rims and it looks killer! And the power, man. And believe me, i love BMW's, ive always wanted one, but its only the 3. I think getting a 5 is really worth your money. ANYONE will get a 3, I know ppl hate driving common cars, dont say you dont becuz if everyone had Ferraris then it wouldn't be a Ferrari! Of course its not jus about whether its a common car or not, it must appeal in some way and THE BACK of the new 3 isn't working!!! Also, i know its NOT all about looks, cars are engineered very well, BMWs at the top with that. Yet, its hard to decide. I think when Im a lil older, LIKE 22, I'll get a BMW, a 545i, that is fly as hell! AND YES i know almost no car design is perfect but if I am to spend my hard earned money, I want to love EVERY part of the whip I'll buy, you guys get me? Or I might jus go with whatever dealer gives me the better deal, either way, I'll have a nice ride =)

What coils are those? Are those the ignition coils or suspension?
Ignition.

What's on your clock? Pardon my ignorance. I also have one like yours and want to be prepared.

26k miles. Of course according to the bmw guys only a select group of 330is were made with the bad coils. Yeah, heard that from vw on my jetta 1.8t too.

My e46 is approaching 20K ; just read you switched to Kumhos. What's your overall experience? Do they perform?

Decent. Not as good as my original potenza REs. Not as bad as my S-O3s.
.
I just got sprayed by a very rude dump truck with pebbles and mud with some chemical that scraped portions of the hood, spoiler, and windshield.

Luck? No idea. Some toad scraped my windshield with something one day. Can't get the scratches gone. Shrug.

How do you manage to avoid that damage? For a second I thought of abandoning and jumping toward an e90, but my depreciation hit is too high. I'll get it repaired and hope to keep it for years to come. "

I honestly don't know what I'll do...keep my e46 (doubtful), get an e90 (not totally sold), get two cars - one for fun, one more serious. I have no idea where I will be in one year.

BMW kinda has a hard sell after that faux pas. I was on my way to drive the car's replacement and that happens?! Of all things, one of the same problems as the Jetta! Sigh...life is nothing if not amusing.

Finally got to see and test drive the 2006 325i, it was well worth the long wait. Inside its much more roomier than the 2005 and the trunk could comfortably fit my golf clubs (a deal breaker for a golf nut) even more easily than my 2002 A4. The 31 hp increase was significant and the car had a much better feel to it, not the compact type feel of the 2005 (in my humble opinion). Outside, the front and side looked great, the rear was ok except for the tail lights, not a deal breaker. My only surprise was the colors, they had a Sparkling Graphite, Arctic, and Tit. Silver on the lot. I had a deposit (since Jan.) on a Sparkling Graphite, but in person it was considerably darker, too dark for someone like me who does not enjoy washing their car every week. As a result, I changed my order to Arctic which is more like a like gray in person, but I don't like it as much as the Silver Gray on the 2005, but again not a deal breaker, since I ordered a 325xi I have to wait to late Sept. or Oct. for delivery, but based on my experience yesterday, its worth the wait!!!

Sorry if I'm bringing up a past topic, but I'm catching up after being out for a couple of days.

For the second time I sat in the E90, but this time it was a really sunny day. I also had my Maui Jim's on and could not see the radio controls. Poor planning on their part.

Test drive of E90 325 & 330 by fedman98

Test drove the E90 325 & 330 San Rafael, CA. yesterday. I did not notice a huge difference in power between the two, especially the torque. There's a difference but not much. The exhaust on the 325 looks awful without the chrome tips and I did not see any option package or option where it would resolve that issue. The standard wheels/tires do not do justice to the wheel wells. The Sport package takes care of that. Other than those two issue the E90 3 series is brilliant. Now to decide, 325 or 330, and leather or leatherette. Such decisions.....

I agree with your observation, as I also could not see the radio display with my sunglasses on. Considering I only listen to either music on my iPod or 2-3 AM stations, this wouldn’t be a deal breaker. For the most part, I only use the MID located in the instrument cluster. But it is surprising that it wasn’t addressed during prototyping.

Regards,
Chris

Polarized sunglasses aren't rare and certainly among the BMW type driver you'd expect a large group would have such sunglasses. Shrug, weird oversight.
