We just signed a deal for a 2005 Murano S, AWD, convenience pack + some extras: mudflaps, floor mats, trunk protector. 12K miles, total down out of pocket = $2334, 35 remaining monthly payments of $249. There were 100 miles on the Murano but the dealer started our lease 199 miles.

We had 2 payments to go on a lease of a RAV 4 and the dealer paid off the residual balance of our RAV 4 lease (not the payments, they bought the vehicle from Toyota). I think we got a pretty good deal.

This is in eastern Massachusetts.

Sounds pretty good to me! Mind sharing what the residual buy on it is, and what your $2334 covered (guessing 1st month, security dep. acqusition fee + modest cap cost reduction) ?

We put down first month, small cap cost reduction plus tax (on that) and title/reg. I'm not sure what they considered for residual; we were just looking to get rid of the old lease. We would have been simply giving the car back to the dealer anyway. With 2 payments of $320/month left on the lease, we saved an additional $140. We're happy.

2005 Nissan Murano SL lease question: by sp976

I want to take advantage of Nissan's lease deal on a 2005 Nissan Murano SL w/Touring package. The advertised deal of $359/36months seems pretty good. MSRP is $35660 and cap cost is $32147. My wife has a 2001 VW Beetle GLX with a trade-in value of around $10K and we owe $4K. The question I have is do you think a dealer would cut us a check for 6K and allow us to make the initial lease payment of $2000 from this. This way we pocket around $4000. Will they go for this? Or will they demand the tade-in be used as a cap-cost reduction?

I live in Illinois, but am moving to Colorado in three months. If I lease here will I get double charged for taxes or the use fees in CO? I heard that tags are like 1,000 per year. Is that really possible???

If you want to keep any cash you should sell it yourself.

i think it depends on the dealer...we have in the past cut a check to people for their trade, and worked out circumstances such as the one you are describing. will every dealer do it? probably not. can you find one who will? im sure you can. present that as part of the deal you are looking to make - negotiate it like you would anything else. tell them that in order to make the deal, it needs to work out as follows.

good luck with your purchase of a new murano - you'll love it!

2005 Murano SL at Invoice in San Diego, CA by brianm4

I just purchased a 2005 Nissan Murano SL with Touring package and other extra's (splash guard, floor mats, roof rails, etc). MSRP $34,260, sale price was $30,720, lease payment with tax (7.75%) $384 per month, $720 drive off cost. 36 month lease, 12k miles per year.

I went to a local dealer to test drive the car, then I requested dealer quotes from about 15 dealers (via the internet) with in a 2 hour drive of my house. I had a quote of $31,000 from a dealer about 90 minutes away. I went back to the dealer I test drove the car at and told him my deal, I told him if he could match the price I would buy the car on the spot. He beat the price by $300, and with $500 less in drive offs, so I saved about $800.
