CAR PRICE AND WARRANTY by jfs165

I am out the door on a "04" Murano sl awd with the sl touring package, floor mats, mud guards, cargo protector and sun roof wind deflector for $30,500.

The question I have is on the warranty.

Is $1149 to much for a 6yr/100,00 mile warranty and if it is do they play games with the prices with those things just to put more money in their pockets ????

What is a reasonable price for this type of extended protection ??

I drive about 18,000 miles a year and will be out of the standard warranty in two years.
Thanks for your help.

JFS

Ps Did I do well on the car deal or did I get the royal screw job ???

I believe the power train warranty on a Murano is 5 years, or 60,000 miles and everything else is covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles under the bumper to bumper warranty.

Whether or not it's worth $1149 for the miles between 60k and 100k, is an entirely personal decision.

If an unexpected (unbudgeted?) repair should be required at some time in the future, would it cause you great pain? How about sticking the $1149 in a safe saving account (or cookie jar) and see if you ever need it?

By the way, if your quote of $1149 is for the $0 deductible plan, then your price is onhe of the best I've seen. If it's the $50 deductible, then it's good, not great, price.

Is this a decent deal? Advice sought.... by ny_diva

Put a deposit on an 04 SL AWD Murano this evening.
Just wondering if 4800 down & 375 a month lease for 39 months a rip off or a decent deal.
This is my first least w/Nissan & the car to be purchased in NY. Dealer said that I was only charged 212 over their cost price.
Total cost = 31609 + NY rip off tax.
Any advice is appreciated as I'm new to this.

hi all,
thanks for everyone's input. It really helped me in making my purchase of an '04 Murano SL AWD in Polished Pewter with Touring Package, Navi package, carpeted floor mats, cargo protector and splash guards. I bought mine on Aug.30 in Dublin CA for $600 under invoice, plus they gave me what i wanted for my trade in and the 2% financing. I'm very pleased with the deal and the dealer.

That sounds like a big down payment for a lease. The whole point of a lease is to NOT give a big down payment. The terms of a lease are very different than the terms of a purchase where you can expect a larger down. The terms of a lease deal with residual value and a money factor. To find out what the deal should be, go to a very helpful site: www.leaseguide.com and click on the Lease Calculator. For the residual value, use 54% with a .0028 money factor, over 36 or 39 months, and see what it works out to. This is a high residual and a low money factor; the norm that the dealer will use could be as low as 41% residual and .0038 money factor. FYI: A .0038 money factor equates to roughly 9% financing. Dealers will try to screw you on the financing if they (a) think they can and (b) to make up for any lower price they gave you on the car. They will also look to stretch the lease out longer to reap the interest. IF you have a FICO of 700+ you should be able to dictate the terms of the lease. Educate yourself so you know what's going on with the lease game.

I agree with aprilw. I would check around more. Check out our Tips and Advice tab at top for more information. We also have Lease information under Smart Shopper board (look under Browse by Message Board to the left). Goodluck!
