I swore I saw the $500 rebate/2.9% ARP offer due date as July 31 when I searched yesterday but I guess I was hallucinating. Looks like all the offers are gone. Sorry about that.

Thanks anyway.

Regarding my 2nd question, once I walk-in and lock the price with the dealer, can I still walk away if I couldn't get the financing I want?

Cheers,

Lucy

I don't think you'd have a problem backing out of a deal for just about any reason, until the bill of sale and financing docs are signed, but if you are overly concerned, just tell them prior to negotiations that your purchase is contingent upon qualifying for whatever type of financing you require.

Correct. You can back out anytime you want as long as you don't sign the contract and financing docs. Even if you do get approved and change your mind you can back out although they may not be too happy about it unless you've got legitimate reasons. Those "scribbled on" documents that dealers create on the spot that basically say "I will buy this car today if the price is $xxxxx" also have no legal effect so even if you sign that you can back out.

Thanks - that's exactly the answer I'm looking for. Now I just need to nail down a deal!

Happy 4th of July!

06 Murano coming off lease by dutch124

Hi All-

I've got the Murano coming off lease in August, and am thinking about buying it and wanted to get some thoughts on it.

What I'm looking for help on is the general idea of buying out a lease, which everyone usually says is a bad deal, however-- check out the math:

Total $$ paid for the car at end of lease term = $18k (includes $1k out of pocket and monthly payments)

To buy at end of term = $19,500

Truck only has 20k miles on it.

When I do a quick search online of what the '06's are going for, I see most around $20k to $22k at the highest.

If I bought it out, that would mean I'd be spending a total of $37,500, plus whatever I pay for however long I finance it.

The other thing I think is that I'd have to pay sales tax on the $19,500, so that jacks it up a grand or so.

Any thoughts would be appreciated... my wife drives to little leasing seems silly at this point for me.

Thanks,

Jason

You can buy a brand new honda crv exl awd for about 25k. Not a murano but still nice suv. Leather etc. If you go to a honda dealer that also has nissan you may get 1k or more trading in your low mileage murano. Depends on what murano you have. In the st. louis area they are desperate for used muranos and will try hard to get you into a new car.

2009 Murano SL by sbuhler

Purchased a 2009 Murano SL 2WD with Premium Package, Splash Guards, Floor Mats and Roof Rack Cross Bars on 7/8/09. It was a left over from 5/08 so it was before the price increase.
MSRP: 30060
Paid 27637 (Invoice)- 1500 (rebate)- 500 (holiday bonus cash).
$25, 637 + TTL
There seems to be a shortage on the Murano. I felt the price was reasonable since this one was before the price increase.

I live in central California and went to check out an LE that had moon roofs, nav, etc. It had an MSRP of $41,325. The dealer only had 2 Muranos, the other was an SL with quite a few options that had an MSRP of about 36K. On the LE, they said they were in limited supply and very popular etc. They didn't want to deal. Thought they might be able to go $1,000 off MSRP but no more. I mentioned that Edmunds showed the same equiped vehicle TMV being about 37K+. Ultimately we said thanks for the test drive but left. May have to wait a while to get a good deal.
