I'd like some opinions on this offer on a Sport V6. Options include security system, carpet mats, DRL's, leather and garage door opener, MSRP $31262 the offer is $28700(fees included), with tax $30709. I'm looking at doing a 48 month lease.

Thanks

Your comments are welcome. Just placed an order:

Options: 6 disc cd changer, sunroof, day running lights, roof rack, 17" wheels/tires, leather steering wheel, 5-piece mat set, double decker cargo system, 115V AC power point.
Vehicle + options at "invoice": $28,593.
Destination: $540. Advertising: $525.86... .
Total so far: $29,658.86.
Made me pay the advertising, AND made me pay sales tax on the $28,593 amount (including the destin and ad fee...).
My other costs: sales tax--$2,301.98; DMV--$236; Doc fee--$45; California tire fee--$5.
My total out-the-door (when I get it...: $32,245.98.
Your opinions?
Thanks

Jamonrob,

Did the dealer place an order for your 4runner to be built specially for you (i.e. requested factory to build) or are they going to do a dealer locate and find one that closely resembles your option requests? Also, what dealer are you working with? I will be in the market soon for a SR5 and will probably need to special order since they don't equip SR5 models with the side curtain airbag option in Northern California.

Concerning the dealer's offer, it seems reasonable, although I don't know why you would have to pay a marketing fee if you are special ordering (seems like a gimmick that dealers use to extract more money from the buyer). Have you checked the price against some of the online car buying websites?

Interested in the SR5 ordered by Boston4r. I plan to look in the same area, however I'm only interested in an SR5 with 3rd row seat and side airbags. Were you able to get invoice price for the SR5 you ordered?

I also ordered SR5 w/ third row seat, V8, side airbag. None of them were prepared to do special order. One who did agreed for $500 over invoice.
That is what I agreed finally. I did pay TDA ($413), DHB ($613) and WSFR ($306).
Will I do it again for the same deal? Definitly so.

Thanks for the heads up -- good to know that they can special order. May have more questions as I get more information from the dealer

Curtain Airbag Option by beanctr

If this discussion thread is any indication of the demand for side curtain airbags, why doesn't Toyota build the SR5 with them? I hope at some point they analyze the options people are requesting on special orders. I say make this safety feature standard on all 4runner models.

I special ordered a Sport V8 AWD with side curtain airbags. I encountered some resistance, but I eventually found a really good salesman. He told me that special orders are a lot of time and effort, so most salesman hate doing them.

Just to give you a heads up I paid invoice. I ordered 31 Oct 03 and it arrived like Feb 12 04. It was a long wait, but to get the side curtain airbags was worth it.

Factory orders for 2004? by slarry

It doesn't seem logical that anyone at this point in the year would order a 2004. If arrival date is 4-months from time of order then that means the buyer could expect a delivery date in July. Your 4-R would become a year old in just 2-months. Anyone know when dealers will take orders for 2005 model and when specs are usually available for new models? Maybe side air bags will become a standard feature...if not then at least you would have a new model with probably more standard features than last years model. Price increase should not be a factor due to Toyota's desire to keep it very competitve in the mid-size SUV market place.
