OOO yeah. Mine takes a hit as soon as the AC is turned on. Plus I can see a instant mpg hit of 4 mpg or so on my SG. The compressor is taking 5 to 7 hp and taking some torque.

You can feel it when the AC goes on in our Accord and Ranger. And then on some cars you have the condenser fan kicking on putting a load on the alternator.

AC is a load on a 4 banger....

I don't run mine a lot on my daily grind. Work for mpg,, yeah know.

I have a MZ3 GT 2.3 5dr and I feel a bit of power lost with turning the A/C on, but not significant and hardly noticeable. I zoomed past a Civic Si and a Sentra 2.5 SeR with the A/C turned on.

When going to WOT (Wide Open Throttle) the A/C compressor is turned off.

Well i found a way to solve my A/C problem. I traded in my beloved M3 last night for a 07 honda elephant (or was that element). I feel i fit better in it and living in minnesota the awd is great. Having used the a/c today in this car the difference is simply amazing. Not taking away from my 3, i loved that car, but when it comes to a/c this one blows colder and doesnt effect the engine at all that i have noticed.

Sorry to hear about giving up your 3... But you need to get what you needed. The Element is pretty cool. My friend had one & i couldn't believe how big it was inside! Maybe get some bigger tires & rims for it!

Traction Control by enaj

I am planning on buying a Mazda3 s touring and want to know if the traction control can be turned on and off. Someone told me that I might find it difficult getting up hills in the snow because the traction control will not let the car wheels spin, which might be just what is needed to climb a hill.

Yes.

As "Someone" if he/she has ever seen a vehicle moving forward on an icy hill with the wheels. The reason you may want to disable the traction control is to allow you to "rock" the car forward and backward if you become stuck in deep snow.
