Replying to: harrybush00 (Nov 01, 2005 11:47 pm) I thought that it was the only automatic transmission for V6 models in 2005. A friend of mine has a 2004 with an automatic and the V6 but his is only a 4sp auto. I could be wrong but edmunds overview didn't make mention of it either.   The deals you can get on the 2005's right now are incredible. You can't get a Mazda3 with the 2.3L engine, comparably equipped, cheaper than what I got the 6s for. So far we're quite pleased. Replying to: rebel22 (Nov 02, 2005 3:25 pm) Yeah, my mistake on the tranny choice on the '05s. 6-sp AT and 5-sp MT are the choices. I got confused because the '06 4 banger models got the upgrade in the transmission choices. I've read some complaints about the 6-sp auto, but what do you think of it?

Replying to: harrybush00 (Nov 01, 2005 11:45 pm) My first 2 Mazda's have been very good quality. My MPV has 67K with (knock on wood) no issues. My 01 Protege had one problem with the seal on the front window (warranty), but I got rid of it after only 2 years so I can't speak to it's long term quality. The RX-8's at the dealership I went to were also advertised 7000 off. All had MSRPs between 31 and 32K.

I'm looking into buying a 2006 6i 5dr now but Mazda is only offering a $500 MAC rebate. I know there is a "hidden" factory-to-dealer incentive on the west-coast because local dealers are discounting 2006's. Anybody know what the direct dealer incentive is on the West Coast?   Other regions like the southeast have a customer $1000 rebate on 2006 6's! What gives?

Other regions like the southeast ... Do you mean hurricane territory? I imagine that dealers there would be anxious to attract customers to restore business.

Does Mazda offer this incentive to consumers? What is it? I thought only GM offered this program through test-drives.   2nd issue: Is there a Southern California Mazda mandated advertising fee now? My dealer said it's called "Los Angeles Assessment" It's tacked on to all Mazdas in this area ($150). Wow this is new to me. Never heard of Mazda charging ad fees in this region.

I received a quote today on a loaded 6s wagon and it was about $5k less than MSRP including all rebates so they are being reasonably consistent. I did not press them too hard because I haven't made up my mind yet...
