I notice my 06 Si is using little oil. About half quart
2,200 miles. The break in was basically easy under 4000 rpm's for 600 miles. I do notced little gray matter on the dip stick but the oil seems clean. After 600 miles between
4000-5000 rpm's. Haven't went over 5000 rpm's to date. 5000 once after break-in. This soumd about normal for break-in?

(We had 3 of the 02-05 generation) used oil until about 10,000 miles. After that we didn't really have to add any oil between changes.

Sorry, I didn't reply sooner. Had to get the struts replaced AGAIN! Both of them were bad. That fixed some of the noise but I still have the coffin creak in the stearing wheel. Notice it mostly when parking and turning. I took it in once about a month ago and it wouldn't do the noise (of course) then, I took it when it was doing it and the guy laughed at me and said I was inventing problems! This was a different guy I was dealing with. Not going to him again. Anyway, the noise has now elevated into a growling noise in the steering... sorta sounds like it is strut related again. Could this be possible?!

No to both of your suggestions. Had the clutch lubricated every two months for a year which obiviously didn't solve the problem .Replaced the clutch master cylindar and problem solved. Had the struts replaced TWICE so far and still having the creaking noise. Each time the noise went away for a couple months and came back. The second time they assured me both stuts were bad and they also put all new nuts and bolts and shafts and whatever and made sure everything was on ok. Noise stopped for a maybe three months and now back again. Lucky me!

How about the steering rack? Both my struts and steering rack were replaced. Noise went away for about 6 months. Then last month, they had the strut bushing replaced. Noise is gone again (hopefully for good). Never found the need (yet) to get the cmc replaced.

Strange noise from left front side of 05 Si by qnzprodigy

My 2005 Si has been producing a noise from the left front side area at speeds over 65mph. It sounds like a whistle being blown. You can only hear the noise when all the windows and moonroof are closed. I wanna take it in for service, but I am not sure what to tell them? The sound does not stop even when i get it to higher speeds (100mph +).
Can anyone give me any help in figuring out what is wrong with my car? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Problems with key and/or ignition by greenebj

I have an 06 Civic Coupe EX that up until now has given me no problems. One day I drove home from work and everything was fine. Later that night I went to go out and found that I could put the key in the ignition, but it wouldn't turn. I tried moving the wheel, making sure it is in neutral, etc.. Can't figure out what is wrong. Hoping that there is a fix that I can do myself as the nearest dealership is almost 2 hours away. It is a manual transmission and I have three keys (two regular and the valet), none of which worked. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help is appreciated.

I haven't had the steering rack replaced. I took it in about a month ago when it was a bad noise day and the guy driving around with me laughed at me and said I was inventing things that weren't there. Funny... I've never been wrong before! I'll keep that as a suggestion. Have to get the nerve up to go in again. I think I've had the bushings replaced. I know they said they replaced all the parts and nuts and bolts associated with the struts.

I'm not sure what you are describing is the same creaking noise I've got. Weight doesn't make it worse. I notice mine when parking or turning slowly. I stil don't have it fixed and I'm tired of dealing with it. some days it's pretty bad though. Something is definately wrong. Did you get yours fixed?

I bought a '99 honda civic, and there is a lot of play in the steering wheel...feels mushy. when i am at a dead stop, i can turn the steering wheel from side to side and it "clunks." when i go over bumps, i can hear something jarring...any ideas? the wheel is also turned to the right in normal driving, even though i had the alignment taken care of. any help would be uch appreciated!
