What is this discussion about?
Honda CR-V, Wagon, SUV

You are correct, normally RAV4 is little expensive. But Toyota is offering $2000 off of their Value Package. And $750 rebate. So almost 3K back. That makes RAV4, LTD, V4 same (or less) than CR-V EX-L.
Again, I like honda products but as of today there is a clear winner (RAV4) unless you like CR-V's shape and style. I like both shape.
Also don't forget RAV4 comes with "Smart Key", which Honda does not have.

Is this a good deal?
280.00 license fee
Includes gap, free accessories (molding, mud guards, wheel locks), lifetime warranty on the powertrain, and 500 trade-in (car's very old).

Not sure what your basis is for claiming a clear winner. If, for example, you like responsive steering and road feel, the CR-V is better.
If you are talking about price only, that's just part of the equation. Some people would say that one of the vehicles is a better value over the other even at a greater cost of $3,000. We tested both and we didn't view them as even. But that's our opinion.

Suggest you use the Edmunds 'quick price quote' and send out a half dozen or more requests (for DETAILED cost breakdown before tax/title) to areas you are willing to drive to. Use the comment box to tell them NO trade in, accessories, etc.
For example, Jim White Honda and Brown Honda of Toledo OH are very competitive...just got a quote a couple weeks ago that beat anything I rec'd in GA, AL, northern FL. Bought two of my last three Hondas in Toledo...flew in, drove back
Give everyone a 'last chance/call' to improve the price one you have all the reponses in.
Ask about financing...Westside Honda TN, via Bank of America provided me with 4.3% APR...excellent credit score...beat my credit union's 4.75%...3 wks ago.
Do all your shopping via email...ask for clarification if quotes are 'muddy'
p.s. mud flaps/splash guards are an approx. $90 item. Good Luck.

I agree with you. it's a personal preference. I am glad we all don't like the same car otherwise the price would go really up for that car:)
#8445 of 13101 How should I negotiate a 2008 model vs a 2009?
Mar 23, 2009 (8:25 pm)
Hi! I was wondering how much more aggressive I can be for negotiating the price of a new '08 model? The dealership has over 70 2009 models and almost 40 2008 models in stock. Initial internet quotes for the '09 ($19,500) are around invoice price. I was quoted a price that is about $700 less for an equivalent '08 model. This is without any haggling. I know I will haggle to the limit regardless but I was wondering how much less should I be shooting for since it is an older model? How much more leverage do I have in getting the '08 heavily discounted?

Octopos ... if your credit union offers no or a low fee to refi, consider going back to them for a refi on that loan to see if you can get an even lower rate. As I posted above, I got 4.9 from the cu but then 4.84 on site from the dealer. When I told the cu this after buying the car with dealer financing, they cu offered 4.5 for 60 months (4.25 for 48 months).
It would have been nice if they had given me that 4.5 last week before buying the car, but at least for the refi I can get lower. I was surprised they went lower.

Appreciate your suggestions. So basicly, you just negotiate the price with the internet seller? I did sent out some quote requests and got the price. Just have no clue that am I should continue negotiate with them? can we also ask the dealer invoice price or something like that? It is different from talking with real person.
