After about twenty minutes working the phones, I found two dealers in Madison, WI and Milwaukee, WI were willing to go below invoice for a 2009 CR-V EX-L AWD w/ NAVI (Glacier Blue), but I only negotiated with dealers that had the actual car in the lot. I worked in the following add-ons AT dealer cost: - Wheel locks - Splash guards - All season mats - Trunk tray - Door edge guards - Chrome exhaust tip ACTUAL dealer cost is $454 including labor. I got that in writing from the dealer, which I believe to be true since it's lower than the parts total if I bought them from www.handa-accessories.com and shipped them to my own home. The invoice price difference between an 08 and 09 CR-V is $450 for this particular trim. Tell the dealer it makes no sense to buy an 08 if you can offset one year's worth of depreciation (typically $1000 or more a year) by paying for an 09 upfront. Dealers will understand this and be willing to work with you. So I successfully negotiated 09 CR-V EX-L AWD w/ NAVI (Glacier Blue) at 08 invoice price ($27,068 incld destination) + $454 in add-ons + 5.5% tax ($1489) + $125 title/fees and extra negotiating to beat the competition = $28,750 OTD. That comes up to $826 below the 09 invoice price+dest. Both dealers were willing to do this. Under invoice for 2009 and DEALER cost for add-ons is always possible, and who knows, someone out there may even do better. I'm helping a friend buy her first Honda, and I get a free steak dinner in return. And free season mats and key chain for me from the dealer for the referral.

Plus I'm paying cash and they don't seem to care or budge. My quotes from Milwaukee dealers I got for a 08 LX 4WD were: (including destination) (11/11/08) $20867.00 $20988.00 09 CRV LX 4WD: (Including Destination) $21999.00 $22078.00 $21778.00 $21991.00 It seems like it was easier to get a fair price back 18 months ago when things were good. One dealer has a goal of selling 250 new cars for this month alone. How the heck can you do that at these prices, yet the showfloor at the dealership this past week was basically empty with salespeople standing around smoking cigarettes outside the front doors of the dealership. What a great image for honda. Help me out if you can. Just want to buy without being jacked around.

Replying to: phisher (Nov 18, 2008 7:30 am) I just got a quote for an 08 CRV EX 4WD for $23090.00 including destination, and for an 08 CRV LX 4WD for 21402.00 and an 09 CRV LX 4wd for $21,771. These prices are outragous and way too high. I think these dealers are near bankruptcy like GM because all I see when I go in these places is most of the salepeople are smoking outfront or in the back by the service area. I got a much better price 18 months ago. With prices like these, they will never sell anything. I would rather not deal with any salespeople as most of them know little about the product they are selling. I would rather deal with the finance person and clean-up peole to deliver the CRV and save money on price. I will keep trying till the price is right!!! Maybe as the economy worsens, Honda will offer more incentives, but these dealers in Milwaukee are probably going to shutdown soon if they don't sell any more cars.
