The roof rack is bolt-on and is easily installed in less than an hour. It can be had on-line for about $200, which would put reasonable installed retail at about $280 - $300 max. An '08 LX AWD can be purchased in many regions at close to dealer net/net cost, or about 20,400. That would put your vehicle price including the rack at about $20,700. Some people have done better than this price. If you can get the color you want within a couple hundred of this price (including the "Service Fee") I'd consider that a good deal at this point in time.

Either find another dealer or go get a 2008 RDX Nav for a little over $30k plus taxes. You'll still be getting a Honda, and saving some money. That price is wayyyyy too much. If you're planning to spend that much money, premium gas shouldn't be an issue.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion.

Yes, purchased a 4x4, EX-L at Markley in Fort Collins for $25,278 plus taxes only. Use the internet sales dept: http://www.markleymotors.com

Honda of Greeley and Frontier Honda in Longmont had good prices as well. Let them compete. Locations in Denver wanted a lot more and were rude.

Not a good deal. $27,959 would appear to be close to MSRP, which makes no sense right now. An '08 AWD EX-L can be had under $25K in many regions at this point in time. If that's all that is available to you (some areas don't have many dealerships) it would be better to wait for an '09.

If you are a DIYer the wood kit, which I just installed myself, can be had for under $200 on the net. Although it's a little tricky, it's not difficult--just requires a steady hand and 45 minutes to an hour. If not, $280 -$300 installed retail is a fair price. Also consider the internet for the rear armrest tray. It sounds like the dealer is charging dearly (or would that be dealerly ) for these accessories.

Lastly, unless the Honda all weather mats a a really good deal, you might consider the WeatherTech floor liners--better product. Honda's cargo tray is better, however, if easy access to the cargo loops are needed.

is this a fair price 4WD '80 crv? by sidsidcrv

Hi guys!

This is my first post! I've never bought a new car before so i have lots of questions, i'm a total newb and need help. I'm ready to buy a crv this weekend and just started getting in quotes from dealers. so far, the lowest i am getting is 23,091 which i am told is invoice plus destination fee. now here's where i'm confused, if i ask for less they say they cant do it because they "cant" go any lower or they lose money. where do i find the actual dealer price the dealers pay for these cars, all i can find is invoice? and the dealers say they lose money if the sell below invoice. but that's not true right? they lost money if they sell below dealer's cost.

the post by mquillan on page 379 of this thread says we, as buyers, should be paying close to actual dealer cost which at the time of the post on sept 1st was: EX AWD $22,403 according to the poster. i said i wanted to pay 22,800 and the reaction was like i told the dealer his mother is ugly.

so, what should i pay for a 2008 crv EX 4WD ? the accessories i want are spoiler, cargo tray, fog lights (though can honestly live without these for a while) and front mud guards. i'm getting quotes from 900 - 1200 for those accessories including install. i just haven't a clue how to get that 22,400 price and now that i read its what i should shoot for, i really want it!

edited to add: i'm in the seattle area, is this not a great area to get a good deal?

Yes, this is a good time to get a great deal on a 2008 CRV.

They are not, however, distressed merchandise and a dealer isn't going to lose money selling you one.
