Hi Dschaeffer. I would highly recommend not even discussing payments. That's where they will get you everytime. Do your research, the MSRP on that vehicle is 27500 (I think). Like some of the previous posts did, tell the dealer what you are willing to spend. I live in DFW area and all of the dealers that I talked to could not negotiate much. They say it is a hot selling car right now and can't even keep the EXLs on the lot. I got the EXL w/Navi, for right under 29000. I can't remember exactly now, but it did have several add ons. Many we didn't want and a few we did.
Good luck.

Ghosty, you got an excellent deal on your car, but you're being a little confusing with your pricing. You really didn't get $3500 off MSRP. That MSRP was inflated with a "bogus" protection package, as you called it. You got closer to $3000 off MSRP, and that was for a NAV version, which has a very high markup. I'm not tryng to diminish your good result, but it can be dangerous to generalize because everyone might think they should aim for $3500 off MSRP, and that's not true, or acheivable.

At this point in time, however, people should be shooting for within a few hundred dollars of dealer cost (not invoice). Otherwise they'd be better off waiting for an '09. The dealer costs are within a few hundred dollars of the best pricing on this board at this point in time:

LX FWD,$19,306, LX AWD $20,383, EX FWD $21,326, EX AWD $22,403,
EX-L FWD $23,614, EX-L AWD $24,690, EX-L FWD w/NAV $25,139,
EX-L AWD w/NAV $26,216.

This pricing includes destination, but is before taxes, title, doc fees, and any other miscellaneous fees. Don't pay any fees that aren't reasonable and customary for your region or state. Not everyone in every region will be able to get this pricing, but they should be able to come close.

thats an excellent price. i paid 24,239 out the door for the same car. subtracting all taxes my true vehicle price was around 22,500 so you beat me by 700 bucks. congrats!

btw..no one other dealer within 100 miles would beat 24,239 out the door in my area so i hopefully got the cheapest i can find for n. california, sacramento.

I just picked up my 2008 EX-L from Sons Honda in Griffin GA this past Saturday for $24,500 OTD with me paying sales tax of 6% back in my home state of FL. We were visiting near there and worked a deal through the internet and phone. Add ons included in the price were moon roof visor, mud guards and "paint protectant package". Great car for the money.
