This is the deal the dealership is willing to give me on a new 2008 CR-V EX AWD in Columbus, OH. Also, we are trading in a gas-guzzling 2006 Honda Pilot 4WD (averages 15 mpg, so we are downsizing and hoping for an overall average of 20 mpg on the CR-V). We owe 23500 and the dealer will give us $21800. This was the best appraisal we got from 7 different dealerships. So with that said, here is the breakdown: -2008 CR-V EX AWD - $23900 (about halfway between MSRP and Invoice) -$0 down (except first month's payment) -39 month lease. We wanted a 36, but the 39 actually shaved off over $20 on the monthly payment, and 3 months past warranty is, to me, no issue. -15K miles per year -Residual is 62% (residual for 36 month was the same) -$420/month We actually got a 0.0023 Money Factor, which seems to be lower than most I have researched. Anyone with information on whether or not they think this is a good deal considering the trade-in and not placing any money down (which I would never do on a lease), and also if the 39 mo. vs the 36 mo. is a good choice to save over $20 per month, it would be greatly appreciated as we plan on signing the papers and picking up on Monday. Thanks!

| Yesterday, I paid $ 300 over invoice plus $ 100 for processing plus $ 635 freight for a 2008 CRV LX AWD. I also got fog lights (MSRP $ 539) and all-season mats (MSRP $ 150) at 20% discount. As it happened, the car had pinstripes (MSRP $ 125), front splash guards ($ 96), and door jamb moldings ($ 399), which I did not want, and they let me have free - thus showing that these options have a very low cost for the dealers. The cash price was $ 21,956.00, and with taxes $ 1097.80 and tags+lien $ 195, the OTD price was $ 23,248.80. The dealer was Herson's Honda in Rockville, MD. Very pleasant to deal - no hassles. | |

I submitted all email quotes (some via Honda's official site dealer quote and most directly entered into the dealers' sites). All I get so far are emails from sales representives asking me to call their number to talk. No quote in email received yet. How did you get internet quotes from various dealers? Thanks.

Replying to: eastwing (Oct 29, 2007 8:32 am) Now I am getting some quotes via email. I guess their tactics are try to contact you personally first. After I responded and asking for internet quotes again, many of them did provide internet quotes. However, many quotes are not even broken down enough to tell whether they include destination charges (as you can tell, the quotes are nowhere near invoice or I would have guessed if they include destination).

Replying to: cp999 (Oct 29, 2007 10:17 am) I would suggest that you ask the dealers to provide you with their best price broken down as follows: Base price + Destination + Documentation Fees = Total Price You should limit your initial contact with the dealer to emails - their Internet dept does this all the time. Once you have a firm price from a dealer you can use that target price for the other dealers to beat if they want to sell you the car. You should only contact the dealer by phone or in person after you are comfortable that you have the best deal. By using email you also have proof to show the dealer that you have a specific price and that you are serious about making a deal. My dealer asked me to show him the email from the other dealer before he matched the price. Don't be shy about negotiating via email, you will certainly save yourself a lot of time and effort. The dealer's objective is to get you into the showroom so you have to play on his turf by his rules. The internet approach gives you more of an even playing field and a competitive bidding process which works to your advantage. Good Luck.

Replying to: crusher99 (Oct 29, 2007 4:14 pm) Thanks for the advices. After sending requests to around 10 dealers, I got about 5~6 quotes so far. I will certainly try to get all info before going into their showroom, as I have no intention of driving around to more than a couple of dealers. Unfortunately, I have a trade-in which will make things more complicated as I don't think I can get a quote on a trade-in before they look at it? |

| Just purchased New 07 CRV EX AWD w/out NAV, as equipped, no accessories, for $24.463 OTD. Selling price was $22,500 ....Bought in Northern CA from Winter Honda (internet department). I was in multiple communication with about 5 other dealers (all internet department); a lot of them said 24,600 was impossible to do, that no dealer would do it. Just keep waiting and keep asking for your price and one of the dealer will give it to you --- just got to not be in a rush thats all | |
