Negotiated $24,7k (including destination fee, free tints on front windows and auto-dim mirror installed) + tax & tags, but did not pull the trigger yet. Is a a good deal or should I push the dealer to get better price or throw in some more freebies? |

Replying to: pete22 (Oct 20, 2007 5:46 pm) Actually in my case the taxgs and taxes are not included in $24,7k and this is a 2007 model, not 2008. Basically they offer to sell it to me about $70 below the invoice and throw in the auto-dim mirror and tints on the driver and passenger windows. So I estimate it's about $350 below the invoice if you add the discount from invoice price to the MSRP value of the freebies and cost of installation.

If they say no, be prepared to walk out the door or end the email exchange. You can increase the odds of their saying "yes" by checking the inventory of the dealer -- do they have '07 EXLs in stock? how many?. If they have a bunch in stock and they aren't moving, they will probably eventually say "yes" to your offer if its within reason. If they refuse to budge, you can always come back and take that offer in a few days....if it hasn't been sold. The other thing to watch is "document" or "administrative fees". Most dealers in our area charge from $300-$500 for those fees. Let them charge what ever fees they want, but when negotiating, make sure that you make clear (in an email offer, for instance) that the total OTD price before taxes and title includes ALL fees. They can then readjust the invoice whatever way they want---while you get your bottom-line price. |

I have been shopping for a CRV EX AWD in the LaCrosse WI area for the last few weeks. MSRP is 24,785. I offered 23,600 about 500 over cost to 4 surrounding dealerships and 2 out of the four accepted the offer. The Rochester, MN dealership (Tom Kadlec Honda) has been by far the most pleasant dealership to work with. It took almost two weeks of haggling to get my local dealership in LaCrosse (where I bought my last two Hondas) to come close to my price. The internet sales dept in Rochester accepted my offer within 15 minutes. Good luck to everyone out there - don't forget to do your homework it really pays off! |

HI, I am looking at 2007 White EX CR-V with window tint, cargo tray, wheel locks, pin stripe, front splash guards, roof rack, and paint and fabric seals (which he says is a conditioner to protect fabric and prolong shine). I have gotten the dealer down to $22,505 and he says he has $22,495 in the car and cannot go below. Is this a good deal? Do honda dealers ever go below invoice? Should I wait longer and see if I can get more off or take it? Any advice is greatly appreciated. thanks |
