Heritage Honda was good but O'Donnell in Ellicott City, MD was even better. Quoted me (in writing) $28567.26 OTR for a EX-L AWD with Navi.

That breaks down to roughly
$26327.20 | strike price ($300 over invoice)
$ 595.00 | freight
_________________________________
$26922.20 | total price

$ 1346.11 | taxes
$ 197.95 | tags
$ 100.00 | processing

$28567.26 | OTR price

Another dealer offered to match and I am going with them. They threw in wheel locks .

Is $299 a good price for the roof rack, installed?

MSRP = Manufaturer's Suggested Retail Price...i.e. the "big" manufacturers sticker/label you on the side window of the new vehicle. The "smaller" label you usually see affixed to the windshield lists the dealer's additional installed accessories..at inflated prices.

Don't dwell on what's already occurred. The CRV is a very popular vehicle and there hasn't been much discounting in the D/FW area. You are not the first nor the last person that has or will pay MSRP. Just look at the prices paid forum when the '08 Accord gets released.

I'm sure this experience will make you be a better prepared and more informed consumer the next time around.

-------

The dealer accessories at McDavid Frisco may explain why they've had a steady stock of over 15 CRV's for almost the entire month whereas one dealer near me rarely has had more than 5 in stock at any time this month. Both Lute Riley & Freeman have a low stock of CRV's - less than 5 each. McKinney has 44! but they can't or won't even respond with a quote.

Would never get a roof rack. It cuts your mpg by maybe 5%. Just my .02.

I just went into Capital Honda in San Jose, CA and told them I wanted the invoice price for a 2007 EX-L, 2WD w/ leather and Navi, and they said yes. Just like that. I wasn't expecting them to say yes. Does this mean I'm not getting the best price? They quoted me $25,500. With tax, tags, and fees it was $27,902.

Is this a good price for an '07 2WD, EX-L with leather and Navi?

Many Honda dealers in N. Cal. appear to be selling them at invoice. I bought my EX-L 2WD yesterday for 23660 +TT&L. If you go to Marin Honda's website http://www.marinhonda.com/ you will find CRVs advertised at invoice.

I was able to get my EX-L for invoice so you could probably do the same. Invoice for a 2WD LX is $19,759.44.
