Replying to: snoopy21 (Mar 05, 2007 2:27 pm) Shopping quotes around around: I did just what snoopy21 said: "figuring what you're willing to pay". For my LX I got a realistic price from this forum (for this geographical area) and got the car for pretty much that price. |

I just wanted to get firm internet prices so I could judge what the market would bear. Most dealers only quoted me $300 under MSRP. I asked "Is that really your best price?" Most said that was as low as they would go and that no other dealer could do better, unless they were lying or scamming me. Then I came here and found out that Sloane Honda quoted $1000 under MSRP to another forum member. Next, I PHONED each dealer instead of emailing. I said "Sloane Honda will give it to me for $21,395." Most dealers wouldn't touch that price..until I talked to Martin Honda (Ardmore). After a week of back and forth emails with Martin, they agreed to match it. Mind you they did this in writing via e-mail. Armed with info I walked into Scott Honda, fully prepared to buy at Martin (20 miles away), and said "I'm on my way to Martin with a deposit for my CRV. If you can match it, I'll buy from you instead." I showed the dealer my e-mail and he said, "we can do that." Could I have negotiated a lower price from Scott? Maybe... but at that point I knew I was lucky to get $1000 off and I WAS TIRED OF THE WHOLE PROCESS. They had the exact car I wanted scheduled to arrive in a week. I got the VIN and gave them a deposit (Important: No VIN = No deposit). No games, no hard-sell. If you know what you want, know what you want to pay, and aren't in a rush - then you may be able to get the same kind of deal. hopdevil

Replying to: hopdevil (Mar 05, 2007 6:00 pm) It is funny you relied last evening because probably as you wrote this, I was finishing up the process of what you had done. I thank you for all your help and everyone else on the forum as this is a great point of reference. I just got the 07 4WD EX for $900 under msrp. $23750 + tax & tag & $80 in fees =$25317 OTD I only made this progress by doing exactly what you guys above mentioned. Shopping qutoes and holding on the best quote until.....someone got within range of what I was willing to pay. Scott beat my best quote and it is close to me.The color I want will be in, in a few weeks. NOW this is the best place for accessories that I found so enjoy or post a better link http://www.handa-accessories.com/crvext07.html |
