Hi All, I just wanted to post my experience and thank everyone for their great advice. This forum really helped. I started last Sunday and sent out a RFQ to 20 + dealers via email in the DC area for a 2007 CR-V EX-L 4WD w. Navi in Glacier Blue.I received quotes from about half the dealers within 2 days.I received quotes (incl. destination and processing) as high as $30,195. I finally narrowed it down to two dealerships, $27,100 Pohanka -Salsbury, MD and Criswell - $27,200 Germantown, MD. Salsbury, MD is about 2.5 hours from DC. Germantown is 30 min from my place.I did not relish the idea of spending an entire day picking up the car so I decided on the $27,200 from Criswell however they said I would have to wait 2 weeks for delivery which was not a big deal for me. The Salsbury , MD folks accepted my decision initially, but then called me up 30 min. later and decided to sweeten the deal to convice me otherwise. They would drop the Honda which they had in stock to my door (150 miles away) via flatbed truck plus throw in all season mats and front mud guards and lower the price to 26,950. I took their deal. I got the 2007 CR-V EX-L 4WD w. Navi delivered to my front door with the all season floor mats, front mud guards and a great price of $26,950 on Friday. That's what I call great customer service. I would highly recommend Pohanka in Salisbury, MD. Very honest dealership and they went the extra mile for me. Folks, there are good deals to be had. |

Today I went to Silko Honda in Raynham, Ma to pick up my new CRV. I went home empty-handed. Three weeks ago my husband and I negotiated an offer for an EX-L 2WD, they assured us they could get us the car in about 2wks. Now I had been reading this forum so I knew that was unlikely. Just as we were finishing paperwork for an offer of 24326 OTD and put down a down payment, the sales manager Rodney walked in and asked if we would consider an EX-L AWD for an additional 900 dollars, we countered at 600 and then said our OTD price was 25000 (this included 1500 on our trade-in and gave him 700 extra for the upgrade to the AWD) He said okay and he would call us when he had the car. Did we get that last part in writing? No we did not. Dumb, I know. 3 wks went by and we got a call to come in and pick up our car. We arrived today with cashier's check in hand and our van all cleaned up. We were met by the "fleet manager" TJ who told us he had to have 25750 for the car before we even got into our chairs. We asked why he couldn't honor the 25000 deal from three weeks ago and he said our trade-in was really only worth about half what they had offered before because we had put 1300 miles on it in the last month and the check engine light was on. This check engine light has been on for the three years we owned this car and we have been assured by our mechanic that it is a wiring problem to the check engine light. Also, TJ stated his "costs had gone up on the car in the last three weeks" He couldn't tell us what those costs were and why it was our responsibility to carry them for him. He said Rodney had not seen the check engine light when he was pricing the trade-in. That's a lie. Anyway, he didn't want to sell us the car for anything less than what he wanted. So we put our cashier's check back in our folder and walked out. So the lessons I learned from all of you are burned in my brain. Don't buy a car that's not on the lot. Get everything in writing, don't leave deposits unless you have to and make them small and put them on a cc. Don't make multiple trips. I'd also look the dealer right in the eye and say if you jack up the price due to your incurred costs between now and when I pick up my car you can stuff it. So now I have to start all over again. At least the van is really clean. |

We are the largest volume dealer in nine states and we do NOT have a silver EXL on the lot. We have several in transit but I would guess they have probably been all pre sold. It's frustrating for both sides, believe me!
