SHP1218 1229 1231 0108-0112

Which I guess means it shipped from Japan on 12/18, was received in port (San Diego) on 12/29, was then ready for shipping to dealer on 12/31 and is due at the dealer between 1/8 and 1/12.
We shall see.

That is a UK built VIN.

That's not his VIN, it's the build/ship dates projected for his car.
To my knowledge, the 07 V's for the US market are all still coming from Japan.

That is not a VIN...I have the VIN but didn't post it.

SHP stands for SHIP and the other numbers are dates.

As you can imagine, the situation has changed. When I went to a Toyota dealer I mentioned how arrogantly priced CR-V's are and he said - that's just like around here last year for RAV4's. I must say I understand what you're saying the price with add-ons being 1-2K more but another fact is that RAV4's are NOT in a short supply like they were last year and like CR-V's are this year. That means dealers are willing to negotiate. So, with all add-ons and leather, my RAV4 came to $25,985 which is about $1,761 off the MSRP. I got the leather seats, I got to keep all the add-ons for the same price that was quoted to me for CR-V. The only trade off was - I didn't get the sunroor but I got V^ with (269 hp).
So, as you can see, it does appear that RAV4's are priced much higher but for the same price basically I got the add-ons for free.
I don't want to steal any of you and move you toward RAV4, let me make this clear - CR-V is a fine piece of machinery, well built and reliable. I would have bought one in a heartbeat (for a decent price, of course). What I am trying to say - weigh your options and if they are not willing to come your way wait or take your business elsewhere where you will be happy with both the price and the vehicle. If Toyota dealers didn't come my way, I would have bought CX-7 or Outlander or Forester or...

nearmsp,
I wouldn't say waiting till March is a good deal. What they are trying to do is take you off the market. And while they might be able to deliever the car as promissed (by March) they again might not. Who knows. My advice to you would be: spot a CR-V on a dealer lot, walk in, negotiate, pay and drive away into the sunset. Let somebody else wait till March. Or April. Or May.

There is not a single EX-L AWD any where in Minnesota for me to do that:)

LXAWD are definitely available on the lots. In fact some dealers here are putting on leather seats and some extras on LX and selling them at EX-L prices because of the shortage.

Come to the Seattle area. There are a ton of AWD CRV's but no 2WD. That's what I want. I've lived in deep snow and maybe needed my 4WD twice. A nice Front Wheel drive would be nice for me up here where there's almost always only rain. But Alas, Honda only sends 4WA to WA. Waaaaaaa.

There, there... Sometimes in the snow your 4X4 kicks in and you don't even know. And the vehicle keeps going. If you have a 2WD you're stuck. I often go skiing and in order to get up the mountain they require you to either have chains or 4X4. And if you're up on the mountain and it starts snowing, without 4X4 you're not going to get down. So, if it gets you out of a tight spot only once - it was worth it.

Its called right time right place , I was helping a friend purchase a V6 RV4 limited back in August and you just described all the Toyota dealerships in a 400 mile radius. Now thew are e-mailing and calling with near invoice pricing on many of models. Its all about timing.... Oh and yes his wife could not wait and went to a Mazda.

Enjoy your new ride Toyota or Honda still both very good choices... MNF

Wait Period for a CRV by bmarchand

I am getting very discouraged seeing 75 days as the estimated wait period. I have a search by my dealer for EX-L 2WD in Red. They are saying red is hard to find and are trying to push an Artic Blue on me. That color is plentiful in SW Florida. Anyone else have to wait for red? If so how long or are you still waiting??

The latest issue of the Consumer report came out today. And guess what, Toyota RAV4 (4 cyl and 6cyl) are in number 1 and 2 spots and CR-V has been placed in the third spot. I am going to test drive a RAV4 tomorrow and see if there are some good deals.
