Replying to: skela (Dec 21, 2006 1:50 pm) I am here in Sarasota/Bradenton and am finding the same problem. I am looking for the EX - AWD, and the best deal I get is MSRP. Also, you know about the doc fees. My dealer wants $399 just to buy the car from him. How do you handle that? PLEASE, PLEASE keep me posted on your progress as I also would not mind traveling to close a deal!! |

We have a quote at Paramus Honda (NJ), dealer fee $129, obtained for us by a long time employee for $25000 for an EX-L arriving in late January, and we put a deposit on it, have the VIN#, but my husband doesn't want to wait that long. The $25k quote is impossible to touch in this area. We called 25 other dealers around here, no one has any stock, and no one will go as low. Why should they, these cars fly off the lot. At Paramus, we are on a month long wait list, even w/deposit. We started in our area and called south, Philly and Delaware large dealers also had no stock and wanted MSRP to be on an order list. So we are driving 240 miles to Parkville, MD. We figure if Heritage won't give us a decent trade value, we'll wait until the end of January for Paramus Honda. In any area, if you are seriously looking for this car, I would recommend getting internet quotes from an expanding radius of your hometown. Since farther north and west of us was snow country, we concentrated south. Most of our inquiries did generate a response but not a quote. I called them once I had the internet dept dealer's name and I used our $25k figure, most said MSRP. If you want NAVI, say $26.6k and see what that gets. The NAVI is so cool, we saw it in a Ridgeline. But our trade in has a new check engine lite every other month or so so it's time to say goodbye. This forum was invaluable to me in researching how to buy a car. I also read online from other sources. Each time you buy you learn a little more. We went to Garden State Honda (NJ) after ordering in Paramus to see if they had any stock, showed them our invoice with $25k, they supposedly had three. After 3 hours of searching various lots, none to be had. Then they found one at another dealer and tried to get us to go for $26k, a crappy trade value, and $300 plus in dealer fees. They came down to $25435 and would not move from there, even with a trade value that was over $1000 below the "fair" value for our car. We left and I started calling dealers the next day to see if anyone had any stock. Most did not, the one who did would not bargain. Every one of them was waiting for delivery dates in late January. That's when I started my email search. If you are anywhere near to Baltimore, I would definitely try Heritage In Parkville. Guess we will really know for sure next week when we go to pickup, hopefully. Merry Christmas to all!!

| I recommend waiting. Why line the pockets of these dealers if you don't absolutely need a new vehicle right now. Patience. The prices will come down. | |

Replying to: bravely (Dec 24, 2006 7:28 am) Anyway, maybe a different forum--but is it wise to trade a subaru outback for honda cr-v, if 1 the many reasons is safety when driving in snowy/icy conditions? (the other main reason is space). thanks again to all!!

Replying to: kyfdx (Dec 24, 2006 12:33 pm) never had a honda, first subaru (current), have always had toyota, but think i've outgrown toyota (have had celica, corolla, camry, rav4[when it first came out], 4runner, and highlander). considering cr-v since it sits higher, appears to have more space,etc.. so just want to make sure it's as good as subaru for driving in bad weather...

Replying to: bghunter (Dec 24, 2006 6:21 pm) If you live in the Midwest with average snowfall and all paved roads, then you'll likely never encounter a situation that the CR-V can't handle. That's just my experience from driving the two previous generation CR-Vs over the last 8 years. The new CR-V has a similar drivetrain, plus stability control, so it is very safe. The only issue would be in near off-road conditions. regards, kyfdx
