SRS seat back sensor is $750.00
controls the inflation of the air bag. Not sure what causes them to go bad, probably passenger's perspiration from the a/c not working!

On Honda's AWD if there is a difference in the circumference(not diameter) of the tires of over 1.5 inches the vehicle senses one wheel is turning faster and thinks it is slipping and goes into 4 wheel drive-all the time. It makes a terrible hum and your gas mileage goes south. The tires were rotated, the rear differential fluid was changed- it finally took an independent to tell me what the problem was- and with new tires cars operation returned to normal.

As to a/c compressor failure- in this area Honda shop and Honda independents are seeing a larger number than usual of failures-the unit literally breaking into many pieces -with dealer estimate of $3000+. AHMC customer service was less than gracious- and it took over 3 weeks to get the unit back into service despite all of the parts being available.

First I've heard of the SRS sensor. Must be pretty rare.

I understand on the tire situation. this is probably the case on a lot of 4WD cars. 1.5 inches is a LOT of difference!

And, I've only read about the A/C problem here. Have to wonder what percentage of cars are affected?

Actually 1.5 inches in circumference is only between 3/16 and 4/16 of an inch of tread wear- (i am rusty on my math)on the V's 70-15 inch tire- which has a circumference of about 7 feet. My tires only had about 20,000+ miles on them- choice was to buff new replacement one down to match existing tires or get all new tires- I opted to get all new tires. You apparently are correct about other AWD vehicles. A friend who has a competitor's small SUV says he was advised of the issue before he left the showroom and it was covered in owners manual. Apparently some manufacturers/dealers are more proactive in customer service than others. As to percentage of cars affected with a/c compressors with "internal derangement" we will never know. This conversation is probably in the wrong category on this board since we got away from "buying experience"and I will bring it to an end but thanks for the input. epm1

Best price for CRV '06 in central NJ? by accelv

I'm looking for an '06 2wd CRV LX. One dealer quoted me 19,500 for the car, including destination fee, but that's just to get me down to the dealer. Dealers make up for lost profits with doc fees (which should be part of the cost of doing business) from $75-200.

Does anybody know the dealer invoice and holdback on this car?

Invoice for 2006 FWD LX is 19397 including the destination.
Edmunds.com lists the price now
Check edmunds.com to see how much others are paying and check carsdirect.com to see your area price.
If you pay invoice price at this time of year, you are lucky.

You have to make sure you get out the door price including sales tax,DMV and DOC fee when you ask for price quote

You need to get more than one quote before you get down the dealer.

Make sure the dealer has the vehicle you are buying when you make a deal.

Heard there is a major delay at the port of baltimore.

Still waiting for my 06 SE.

Hi jwilliams9,
We focus mainly on new car pricing in these discussions, but if you head over to our Real-World Trade-In Values discussion and post the suggested information listed above the "post a message" box, Terry can help you determine about what you should expect to pay.

I was just quoted a price of $24,100 for the SE which includes dest. but not TTL. I am in the SoCal area. Not too bad. Dealer said more inventory coming in at end of month.
