On Honda's AWD if there is a difference in the circumference(not diameter) of the tires of over 1.5 inches the vehicle senses one wheel is turning faster and thinks it is slipping and goes into 4 wheel drive-all the time. It makes a terrible hum and your gas mileage goes south. The tires were rotated, the rear differential fluid was changed- it finally took an independent to tell me what the problem was- and with new tires cars operation returned to normal. As to a/c compressor failure- in this area Honda shop and Honda independents are seeing a larger number than usual of failures-the unit literally breaking into many pieces -with dealer estimate of $3000+. AHMC customer service was less than gracious- and it took over 3 weeks to get the unit back into service despite all of the parts being available. |

First I've heard of the SRS sensor. Must be pretty rare. I understand on the tire situation. this is probably the case on a lot of 4WD cars. 1.5 inches is a LOT of difference! And, I've only read about the A/C problem here. Have to wonder what percentage of cars are affected?

I'm looking for an '06 2wd CRV LX. One dealer quoted me 19,500 for the car, including destination fee, but that's just to get me down to the dealer. Dealers make up for lost profits with doc fees (which should be part of the cost of doing business) from $75-200. Does anybody know the dealer invoice and holdback on this car?

Replying to: accelv (Oct 07, 2005 9:26 am) Edmunds.com lists the price now Check edmunds.com to see how much others are paying and check carsdirect.com to see your area price. If you pay invoice price at this time of year, you are lucky. You have to make sure you get out the door price including sales tax,DMV and DOC fee when you ask for price quote You need to get more than one quote before you get down the dealer. Make sure the dealer has the vehicle you are buying when you make a deal. Heard there is a major delay at the port of baltimore. Still waiting for my 06 SE.
