Honda Care Extended Warranty by chantel

Hi all,

One of my friend recently bought a SE along with the HC package for $800. He was told by the salesperson that if he doesn't use the HC warranty for any work, he will get the full $800 refunded back to him at the end of the warranty. I'm not a believer in that so I searched around and found no information that mentioned about the refund.

Does anyone here know whether this is true or not? If so, please point me to the link. I'm looking into buying a SE so thinking maybe if it's $800 then it seems like a reasonable price.

Thanks in advance.

That deal isn't part of HondaCare. If the dealer wants to offer it, that is a different story. BTW, was this the $0 deductable, 100K warranty? If so, that is a great price anyway.

Honda Care will refund any 'unused' portion of the warranty (meaning pro-rated) - if it is not used before you sell or trade. I will probably get 25% refunded as I have traded my vehicle at 77,000 miles on a 100,000 HC warranty.

I just got some clarification from my friend and he said his HC is 5 year or 60K for $885 at $0 deductible. He has a service contract reimbursement guarantee that states if he doesn't use the service, the full $885 will be refunded to him. I believe that is a dealer's deal. Did he pay a bit too much for a 60K extended warranty? His contract starts in 2005 and expires in 2010. I don't understand why since if the factory warranty is under 3 years and the extended warranty is 5 years, shouldn't the warranty expire in 2013 or 36K (factory) plus 60K (extended)?

I paid $23,399 incl dest. and thought it was a good price. It was the cheapest I found in NJ/NY area.

$435 below invoice in the NYC metro area for the CRV-SE is a great deal. Congrats!

I did some looking around for a week before getting my CRV-LX at the end of last month from a dealer in Queens.

Just wondering what people think of this price - is it ok or a bad deal: a Honda 2005 CR-V EX lease for $350/mth with $1k down (in Northern NJ) - your thoughts?

Lease length and mileage?

I am generally against leases. They give no financial benefit to financing, other than lowering payments. However, the total cost of lasing vs. buying is higher for leasing.
Example:
Lease: $350/month for 40 months +$1000 down = $15,000 and no equity at turn-in. If you drive more than 40,000 miles, you will have to pay for the miles.

Finance: $360/month for 40 months = $14,400 and you owe $7200 on the 60 month contract. A 4 year old CR-V with 40,000 miles will probably be worth $12,000-$15,000 (trade-in--retail). Subtract the amount owed and you have an instant downpayment ($4800 -- $7800) for the next vehicle.

Just be aware that I was able to get 2005 CR-V EX manual for $360/month for 60 months through AHFC at 2.9%, no money down. For $10 more a month I will own the car at the end.
