I just got 2013 CR-V LX 2WD by OTD 22868 in Sport Honda, MD. And I got the quote OTD 22950 from O'Donnell Honda. I didn't buy in O'Donnell because the APR I can get was too high.

Car buying experience has been truly miserable. First I went to Paragon Honda- didn't want to haggle, had USAA price that said at least $800 off MSRP. They 1) refused to accept my financing through USAA- guaranteed that if my credit score was above 700 (it was) my interest with them would be less than 4% (it came back 7.25%) 2) agreed after much drama and handwringing to take the $1000 of MSRP that I asked. But when they gave me the invoice, they had clearly added the destination fee back in on top of MSRP, hoping I wouldn't notice. When I did, showed them that that price was included in MSRP on the car's window sticker, and was ready to leave, they called me back to talk to the "big super boss" (aka Finance manager) who said they had to have some way to make money on this car. Maybe they could take $1000 off and maybe they could give me 4% financing, but only if I agreed to sign up for Honda Care for 7 years at $3800(!). Knowing I could cancel that prorated at any time, I agreed just to get my car and get out of there. He made sure to state the total amount several times.
But when he brought back the revised invoice, he tried to direct my attention to the total amount, but I noticed the price of the car was listed at $2775 (Honda Care included gratis) meaning if I canceled it, I'd get no refund. Completely, totally outrageous. I'm sure they would have added on more fees, too.
So then tried Planet Honda in Union, NJ, armed with the USAA price (which was much lower than at Paragon). Again, didn't want to haggle. But was in a bad mood and not predisposed to add-ons. They do this awful pinstriping and door protecting that they charge $595 for. I thought it was ugly and refused to get this. Sales guy said they had a new one in that didn't have it done yet, but manager came over and said it had to be done so they could get their "cushion". I refused- was forced to get all dramatic about walking out and made a big stink about making complaints, since they had said they had cars in stock at the advertised price. Ok-fine. No pinstriping. Then they told me I had to get Nitrogen in my tires as part of a mandatory pilot program the manufacturer requires for a one-time charge of $199. I insisted on calling Honda who said of course it's not mandatory. So that came off. They told me Key Care would be a guaranteed 30% off my comprehensive insurance. Of course, USAA said nope. They did charge me a $300 documentation fee. But that was the only fee besides TTL, and I was sick of all of this, so I went with it. Also let me go through USAA financing. The finance manager seemed okay. Low pressure, nice. Offered me a decent $1400 for 7 years of Honda Care, that I'm sure I could've negotiated. But at that point I was just done and said no. The whole thing took upwards of 7 hours. I like my car, but it better be as reliable as it's supposed to be, because I don't know that I'm up for buying a new one any time soon.

Dealers to not set the finance rates for which a buyer qualifies. The rates a buyer qualifies for is set by the lender. Dealers will often pad the rate to achieve more profit. If the dealer offered you a rate of 2.25 percent that is the rate the lender qualified you at. You should get that rate regardless of whether you bought an extended warranty. This practice is why it is advisable to research the financing before entering a dealership.

What a horrible experience!..... Sorry to hear that..
I hope you will enjoy your new CR-V for many many years!
For other prospective buyers I would recommend to do enough research and have a couple quotes in hands from other dealerships before steping into one...

Hello all,
Thanks to this site and others, I have been able to secure a price on an all-new CR-V EX AWD on-the-road for $26,650 ish including taxes, tags, dealer fees, etc. Also includes wheel locks, splash guards, and accent stripping (don't know what that is?). On top of that, dealer is offering $500 in "flex cash" if I finance $5,000 through Honda.
Total on-the-road, including "flex cash," is $26,150. Dealer is Honda in Parkville, MD.
Thanks again!
