#11689 of 12315 How to Negotiate Car Sale

Raejune, target 10 to 15 dealerships in your area. Wait till the last 2 days of the month. Call each dealers Internet Manager. Tell every dealer that for 200 below Invoice Pricing and no Doc fee's or Ad fee's you will purchase your model of choice and color with a credit card deposit that moment. Be firm tell each dealer thats the number that gets it done today. let each Dealer counter your offer till you feel comfortable with YOUR buying price. This is how you get the best deal on buying a car. GO DOWN YOUR LIST . I guarantee you by the end of your calls you will have the best price in your area. When i buy on phone or online i have bought my car of choice in 1 hour or less. Never failed me in over 30 yrs buying Cars this way. Supply and demand do play a big part in the process. After calling the dealers and you have not hit your target price of 200 Below Invoice i would suggest you take the closet deal to your price and home area, Or wait another month or two till dealers have alot of CRV's on there lots. Then you will find pricing at invoice or below.. Make every Internet manager you call give his best price before saying good-bye. The dealerships that cant give you a price right there on the phone hang up and xxx them off your list. Bad dealership. This is a fast and simply process. Its a Yes or No from each dealer you call.. Remember any Dealer that sells you this car for Invoice price still makes money from the Dealer Hold-back, and factory incentives back to the Dealership....... Good luck.......Brian

POST DEALERS NAME..For that price in Danbury CT, let them keep it. Its a shame to say but some poor mis informed HERB buyer will get roped in and the dealership knows it. MAKE SURE YOU POST THAT DEALERSHIPS NAME SO BUYERS WILL BEWARE OF THAT BAD DEALERSHIP IN THAT AREA.....

I used CarWoo, thanks to a posting at Edmunds Forums.
I was able to reduce $200 from the original quote. The dealership was around 60 miles from my house.

All - just purchased 2013 AWD EX-L w/Nav in Silver and Black Interior from Ourisman Honda in Bethesda, MD.
Got a good deal (below invoice) and waived processing fee. Great guys there and nice to work with - very pleasant experience.
In order to get that price and have that experience I have done a lot of homework and research and brought in an offer from another dealership that they matched. Another dealership did not have color I wanted and Ourisman had almost all color variations in my desired trim.
Ama, Diego, Jose and Robert are all great guys there. Detailed my car, filled up full tank of gas, etc. Highly rated customer service.
Hope this helps prospective buyers..

Paid $28,850 ($321 below invoice) plus $200 for appearance package (listed cost of this package is 3 or 4 times greater). No processing fees or any other fees besides registration, license and tags. Also bought 8yr/120k mi $0 deductable extended warranty thru Honda Financial for $1,120 (could have pushed for $1,070, but agreed to pay $50 more since already getting a great deal on a vehicle)..
Hope this helps...
Really happy with the level of service I got from Ourisman Honda thruought this process. Highly recommend!

I just bought a MY13 Honda CRV EX, and today I noticed that the power door and power window switch at driver side blows cold air in. Is your car this way?

After a bit of negotiating involving a couple of dealers, I was able to score an EX-L AWD for a few bucks less than $26,500 including destination, but not including TTL, from a NW suburban Chicago dealer. I feel I was treated fairly and believe I got a pretty darn good deal.
