Finally pulled the trigger. Got a 2012 CR-V AWD (several dealers told me that 2WDs are not shipped to the northeast due to much higher AWD demand and for "weather" reasons; dont know how true that is, but i heard it from several folks). The lowest haggled price from another dealer was 22,234 (not including destination of 830; invoice is 22,303; internet price was 22,700 and then he agreed to take another 500 off).
Then I discovered the BJ's Auto Buyer Program (similar to Costco's and AAA's). For my zipcode (Queens, NY), the deal with BJ's is invoice - $150, or 22153 (not incl 830 destination). A dealer on Long Island agreed to this which I think is pretty fair. Apparently this same deal even a few months ago was invoice + 500, so getting it for invoice-150 is good (prob due to year-end clearance). I sprang another 1025 for th 7 yr warranty extension. destination of 830 + 2090 tax (8.875%) + ~120 for DMV stuff (I transferred the plate and registration from my 2010 leased honda civic - so this saved me 200 or so) + 12.50 recycling fee. total OTD = ~26,300 or so. I put down 2000 and financed the rest (got 3.9% for 72 months) putting my payments at ~ 370/month (I plan to pay it off quickly making extra payments). So while its debatable as to the utility of the 7 yr extension of the warranty, all in all, I think that's a pretty good deal considering that I didnt have to haggle at all.
So I would highly recommend getting a BJ's or Costco's membership (starts at 75 bucks or so per year) and then do your shopping. Some discounts that I saw for other cars were in the tune of invoice - 2500 to 3000! so definitely worth it. I'm very happy with my purchase and deal.

Was this for LX 4WD?

Same dealers are offering LX 4WD at 23,400 OTD. This includes about 500 in doc fees, etc and 3% tax.

Did you get extended warranty from dealer or online? Presume this is honda care? Thanks.

Finally bought a CRV EX for a total price of $25,154.15 OTD from Bankston Honda in Lewisville, TX. They did not have any LX models, so had to go with EX.

Yup AWD - cant get the 2WD in NYC or anywhere else in the northeast apparently.
Wow 23,400 OTD for an LX is quite the price break. I would LOVE to have 3% tax!!!! In NYC, its 8.875%. Just get all the details upfront. This seems much too good to be true. Does this include the 830 destination? at the OTD price you've quoted, the car would then have to be sold at ~ 21k or so, which is dangerously close to the dealer price (might even be below it). Also, is this for the 2WD or AWD? seems like this might be for the 2WD...
The extended warranty is Honda Care and I got it from the dealer for at cost of 1025. So this extends the 3 yr/36k to 7 yr/70k (I forget what the mileage is). It made the difference of 16 bucks so I figured what the heck.

Hello,

Congratulations. You got very good deal. I am also planning to buy EX-L or EX-L with Nav today or tommorow from the Lewisville TX dealer.

I am poor at negotiation. If you any suggestions, please let me know

My only recommendation would be to get on an Auto Buyer program for a wholesale/bulk buying store like BJ's or Costco. Depending on your location, you could then get significant discounts (mine was invoice - $150). for BJ's, you dont necessarily have to even be a member to see what the discounted price would be. Best of luck.

I was told end of Oct. I plan on buying a 2013. I had quotes of 500 to 800 below on the 2012' s I dont keep my cars more than 5 yrs. IF i could of got a 2012 crv for 1500 to 2000 below invoice i might have consider buying a late year end model other wise it dont make sense financially.

Price is for new 2012 LX and includes 830 dest and 499 doc fees. So 23,400 OTD for new 2012 CRV LX 2WD [incl 830 dest, 499 doc, and tax 3%].

Drove a couple of LX and EX models and couple, at least it seemed to me, had steering wheel slightly off center, i.e. going on straight road it seemed had to steer a bit to the left. Very slight and most folks probably would not notice.

Any one else notice same and would this be tire alignment issue or need to adjust steering wheel or something else?

Longer we wait the less choice in colors and hard to get LX 2wd.

For Honda Care it seems Saccucci gies better price then Bernardi. $300 less for D78 84months/80k.

Any other place anyone could suggest? Thanks.
