Greg,
Before I would drop $2400 on Active Cruise Control, get yourself the manual for the 5 series, and READ about it. I would never drop that kind of money on a technology that is not guaranteed to slow down the car when you come around a corner. The manual says over and over, the system is not intended to supplant the driver's judgement. (in so many words). I would not spend on that, it's a gimmick. But your call. I have to say, I love my Nav, though I didn't ask for it.

What about a Car Wash by gardis

Guys,
How do you handle leaving the car running in a car wash, with central locking?
I'm afraid if I get out of the car, it will lock automatically, and I won't be able to access again.

Am I off base? I've read the manual, and cannot find anything about that.

i recognize the risk for sure . . . i don't think i would ever be able to totally trust the technology but i did test drive a vehicle with it and it did work pretty well. of course i didn't try the stop n go feature but on straight road it worked ok

my vehicle arrives in mid-september and will post a message and let everyone know how it goes

Negotiating from Residual Value by countrygirl2

Hi, My 2007 525i is coming off of lease shortly, and I'm wondering how much I can realistically expect to negotiate the dealer down from the residual value (approx. $30k). Does anyone have any experience/advise on this? Thanks.

Residual Value 07 525xi by sambo49

My 07 525xi lease is up end November 09 with 34k residual value. Appraisal from Edmunds dealer trade in = 24k, retail=30k. I understand the redesigned 2010 5 series style will hit the showrooms in early 2010 which will further reduce the resale value. On paper it sounds I am better off walking away. Does anybody know if BMW will negotiate on the sale price and would they accept same as dealer trade in?

Just bought 2007 525i CPO ... what do you think by sandeepg

Hello Guys,

First of all THANKS to all of you for sharing your experiences here! I used this forum a lot before buying my first bimmer..... So here it goes, I just bought a 2007 525i Automatic w/ Steptronic, Xenon lights, Cold Weather and Premium Packages for $29,500. It was listed at $33,000 and has 41K miles. Its a CPO but has 1.5 years of original warranty on it. I live in Cincinnati, OH and bought it at The BMW Store. Its a shiny new car very clean... What do you guys think about the deal????

The other thing is that I am taking it there tomorrow to get the Windows Tinted. He told me about $250 incl Taxes for it. Is that a fair price and what do you think about the tinting?

The finance guy tried to talk me into buying the extended maintenance plan which he was quoting for $2200 - $2300. I declined it and at the end of the paperwork just before leaving, I asked him how was it again. He said he could sell it to me for $1895 as the price just went up by $200 on July 1st. I want to know if anyone recently bought it and at what price??

Thanks Again & Cheers!

Sandee... seems a little on the high side for a 525 without all wheel drive and mileage on the high side for a 2007 but we all seem to end up paying a little too much, IMO. I think it is easier said than done to find a clean CPO with the color combo we like or can live with, so don't fret, just enjoy the car. Driving a BMW is a beautiful experience.
Regarding the extended maintenance, there was a recent price increase to about $2,200 but I have heard of deals in the high teens - I would try to work it down some if you think it's something you want. I am still debating as I don't know if I will end up keeping my 2006.
Good luck and have fun.

Yes - you can go to autospies.com. There are a number of pictures out - and the new model will be much better lines than the existing 5 series.. (I own a 2007 530i). If you can wait - bet the new designs are out in 6-8 months.
