#3326 of 4028 535 i Xdrive Demo $639/mo Lease Help/Advice
by s24w
Jun 16, 2009 (10:01 am)
We are looking at the following vehicle:
2009 BMW 535 i xdrive demo with 6100 miles.
Original MSRP 59670
Vehicle options:
Cold Weather Pkg
Premium Pkg
All Wheel Drive
Steptronic Auto trans
ipod & USB adaptor
Navigation system
Sattelite radio w/ 1 yr mbrship
destination charge ($825)
Offering for $51995 minus 2500 cash = $49,495
Money factor .00175
36 mo. lease
50% depreciation
$725 Acquistion fee
$201.46 Document fee
$650 Security Deposit
6% sales tax
Dealer says lease payment comes out to $639 per. mo (includes acquision fee) tax extra (150 due as a total amount at lease signing), but I'm not sure if this is accurate. I used a lease calculation and came up with $584 (which includes tax and acquision fee built in) but maybe my calculation doesn't count because I used a calculator for leases that have to be new cars? http://www.edmunds.com/advice/leasing/articles/48365/article.html
Not sure, since this vehicle has miles on it.
How does this look?
And how do I know that the mileage hasn't been manipulated?

The dealer has to lower the residual to account for the miles on a demo..
Last info I had:
1st 500 miles are free... after that, $0.30/mi. (used to be $0.15, until this year)..
6100 - 500 = 5600 miles X $.030 = $1680.00
Lower the residual by that amount.. (change the residual % to 47.2%, and it will approximate it), and see how that changes your calculation.. I think it will put it pretty close.

#3329 of 4028 End of lease buy-out question
by sss2

Has anybody had any recent experience buying out their BMW at the end of the lease? In the past few months, BMWFS has been negotiating directly with owners and offering near-wholesale prices. According to some other forums, the practice has now ended and all negotiations have to go through the local dealer. From my experience in talking to the dealers, they are much more interested in selling or leasing a new car than helping you buyout your leased vehicle. Does anybody have any recent experiences they can share? Mine is a 2007 525i.

I just called BMW FS this morning and was offered $7400 off the residual of my 2007 X3 that is due for return next week. Also was offered on the spot financing of 5.5% for 60 months direct without going to dealer. However, I am thinking of the getting a BMW exec demo 528i (MSRP over $57K) that I was offered. I will post if quote is confirmed but it's like $11K off sticker plus my lease loyalty rebates and new car lease rates and residuals. $1125 drive off, $452/month including LA tax for 36mos w/ 15K miles. Too good to be true? We shall see!

as stated in kyfdx post above, the dealer had to lower my residual by the .30/mile formula and therefore changed it to 52.46% and the payment is $544.22 incl LA tax.

JMCBMW - How did you get them to counter you? My last call which was 2.5 months prior to lease end, they said, BMW FS does not negotiate residual values. I am not three weeks left on a 2007 BMW 530i - and want to figure out how to do. How did you ask the question?
The dealer has NO incentive to work in your favor. If the car is in good shape, low miles, etc., he would rather buy from BMW FS at auction rate since they get first shot, then certify and make a quick $5000+.

I didn't have to counter. They have been calling me (almost too much) and lowered the price 3 times total. They are calling it a "rebate" I believe it's only on the X3 however. My residual was something crazy like 75-77% when I leased 2 years ago which got me a great lease deal but they are getting hit on the turn in. Also, if I return the X3 there is a special $1500 new lease incentive on any new BMW. Go figure. I'm still trying to decide between a 2009 loaded 3-series or a 2009 loaded 5-series exec demo w/ 11K miles for almost the same payment. The only downside (and i guess it's minor) is that the 2009 5-series has the old navigation system.

Hi guys,
I am in a HUGE CRUNCH. I NEED TO BUY A NEW CAR BEFORE JULY 6. I have a 750 Credit Score.
I saw the 2006 CPO has 0.9% financing on the 525i
I saw that there is a 5k incentive to buying the 2007, 2008.
Which one would you guys go for?
I am not looking to spend anymore then 35k?
+ I want the extended maintainence program (up to 100k) what is the price on this?
Should I wait for JULY 4?
