#2826 of 4028 Ordering my 5 seriers

Hi guys, been a follower of posts for the last month or so but have never posted. Question for the Bimmer enthusiasts..... what should I expect to pay when ordering my BMW? Should I expect to pay close to the MSRP? I have gone to all four dealerships in Arizona but nobody has what I am looking for. The dealers sent out inquiries to other dealerships and found nothing close to my request.
I put together a 535i, platinum gray, black interior, nav, prem. package, sports package with paddle shifters, dark poplar, fold down rear seats, comf package.... and the MSRP came out to $59K. I have gone to two dealers and the best they would do is $2000 off the MSRP. I did negotiate up from the invoice and this is the best they would do. Both dealerships told me that when ordering the 5 series that I should expect to pay MSRP. Is that correct? Thanks!!!!!!!

Nonsense. I ordered and got about $2K off MRSP. Off course, I was a previous BMWFS customer. Still though, I'd insist upon it. If it's acceptable, tell them you have your checkbook and will give them the deposit on your ordered car.

bdkinnh,
Congrats! What a great deal for you! Thanks for the reply. Mind if I asked how you strategically did that to get such a good deal? I am in sales myself and played it by the book with two different dealers here in AZ and both looked at me like I was nuts starting out offering them $1K over invoice. They started at MSRP (which I figured they would) and I had to literally get up and start leaving the dealership to get them to come down $2K. Then neither dealership budged more than $2K and let me walk out without a problem. I thought this was amazing.

I agree with carnaught. Nonsense! My 5 series was originally an order car, but I still got very close to $3000.00 off MSRP when they configured my lease.

I sent e-mails to all the dealers within 50 miles, took the lowest price to the dealer I wanted to buy from, and told him if they matched it I would buy from them. They did, so I did.
It really didn't take much work - I got $1,500 over invoice without even trying hard at all. Maybe the market is different in your area, but the approach is worth a shot. Let them know that you're ready to buy, and let them know the exact car you want.
The list I e-mailed to the dealers included the item name, MSRP, and invoice cost. Dunno if that makes a difference, but it's what I did.
Good luck!

I got an offer from a dealership for a monaco blue/gray interior wit the following:
xenon
auto
navi
premium
cold weather
ipod/usb adapter
for $50,300 excluding tax, title, docs.
Is this a good deal or can I do better? I'm in central NJ.

Always indicate the MRSP and if it is a lease or purchase. Then the Gurus on these boards will be able to help.
You may want to check what the invoice is on Edmunds to see how much over invoice you'd be paying.

thanks carnaught. I'm not sure about leasing or purchasing at this point. the MSRP is $52324. I know that for leases I would need residual and money factor. I am leaning toward buying.
does anyone know the January 2008 residual and money factors from BMWFS?
Thanks to all. This forum is great!
#2835 of 4028 fair market value for (Insurance carriers) totalled claim

I was recently involved in a minor head on accident in my 99,528i, it still runs with moderate front end damage, mainly front 1/4 panels, bumper, grill, slight hood damage and secondary radiator breakage. My question to anyone who might care to respond is, Kelly blue book value for fair condition is $11,500, insurance offered $10,000; does anyone think I could part it for more, evrything else on the car is cherry, and the headlights still work!?
