Replying to: elmer3 (May 01, 2006 4:33 pm) I don't know how Elmer3 got the $5300 profit from. Is the MACO fee included in the Edmunds invoice price?

Hi all, Wonder where is the best place/site to find out the latest special finance rate. Last month, there was 2.9% for 60 months for all 2003 5 series, not sure if BMWFS continue the special rate this month. Thanks. |

We have found the perfect BMW 530xi wagon here in Atlanta that we are ready to lease, BUT we have no intention of keeping the car past 36 months. The dealer says that this specific car was to be delivered (maybe was) to another customer and already has the extended factory warranty indelibly attached to the car -- +$1400 (!). He indicates there is nothing he can do as this has been permanently attached to the car via BMW Germany and whomever wants the car must take the warranty as well. It has "Demo" painted on the windshield and has about 650 miles on it. Can someone explain why this is a no-go and the warranty can't be removed? Thanks...

Just tell the dealer that if he wants to sell you a car, it has to be that one, and you aren't paying anything extra for the warranty.. Of course, if you've already let the dealer know that this is the perfect car for you, it isn't going to help your negotiating position.. Something else to consider... Why would a car with only 650 miles have an extended warranty attached, unless it was sold, then brought back? Or, maybe it was a European Delivery vehicle, that was damaged in transit, and then refused by the buyer and bought back by BMW. I can think of all kinds of negative scenarios, all dependent on that extended warranty.. If they weren't insisting on that, I wouldn't give it a second thought.. It could be they are just trying to make money on an extended warranty.. But, I would have the car looked at very closely.. And, I wouldn't pay a dime for that warranty, if I were leasing.. regards, kyfdx
