It probably just depends on how long you plan to have the vehicle, and what the resale price of the car will be at the time you get tired of it and want a new one haha. So if you only want it for a couple of years, try some sort of lease to own option where you can opt to buy the vehicle after the leasing period is up, or just move on to something else that's hot and new. Many of dealers are working out finance plans because they're desperate to be moving cars off the lots at all. Apparently, like that one guy said, there are some dealerships that are doing pretty well and you might try them to find the best deals... like South Bay BMW if you live near Los Angeles.

New to Leasing.... need help! by mcb345

I've been looking in to Swapalease.com for a 1 year old 328i and have noticed I can get something decent for under $400 a month. If I were to walk in to the dealership and find a brand new or demo/test driven low mileage 2008 328 with 10-12k/year is there any possibility of hitting this price of $400 with no down payment like Swapalease? Any advice would be great as I'm new to this. Thanks.

S5 of 335 convertible by twmark

Please no flame.

I am considering purchasing either and S5 or 335 convertible. Both are around 60K loaded. Both are very nice rides. The S5 is bigger, faster and perhaps safer (no safety data available). The 335 is a beautiful car and has 4 years routine maintenance and better gas mileage (yes, this still means something to me). I can probably get a better deal on the 335 as the S5 is a bit scarcer.

Which of the two would you go for and why?

Thanks

The 335 is a car you can get at any dealer. An S5 is a car you must order [unless you get lucky and someone pulled out on their order car]

An S5 order is 8-12 months. The 335 is quicker around the track, the S5 is more of a grand touring car.

There are no "deals" on the S5, the deal is you get one.

how much do you value driving dynamics vs beauty, exsclusivity? That's what it come down to IMO.

I'd get a CPO'd Cayman S. I'm not in to big overweight coupes, although the S5 is beautiful.

The S5 is a gorgeous car. Thats a tough choice. If I was you honestly I would look to get a great deal on a new convertible M3 or maybe one with only a few thousand miles on it. Loaded its probably a low to mid 70s car. I seen a posting of a dealer offering $12k off, so that could bring you back to the 60s. I have driven the 335i, the coupe not the convertible & its great needless to say, but I have never driven an S5. Like you mentioned you do get a car that not alot of people have, but I think over time that will also change as Audi will be forced to eventually start cutting deals. My uncle looked at one a short time after it was released and the dealer wanted something about 1,200 a month on a lease for the S5.

I just purchased a 2009 Crimson Red 328i Convertible from North County BMW in Oceanside Ca. They had several colors available with different packages ranging in MSRP from 50250.00 56000.00 and some change. The MSRP was 50250.00 and paid $47780.00 ust shy of 2500.00 off msrp, plus the 328i convertable is now available at 0.9% for 60 months which saves a couple thousand in interest from the previous 2.9% for 60 months. Make sure you get the convienace package it includes upgraded leather, BMW assist for 4 years at no extra charge, Blue tooth with voice recognition and several other options that can be separate options. If you want the 18 inch rims vice the 17 inch and a sports tuned suspension you will want to get one that has the sports package. However the 2009 328i Convertible is a sweet machine, I am totaly impressed with its style, power, handling and electronics that makes this BMW a fun experience to drive.

Go with swapalease. You can get a great deal as many people are in over their heads AND if the market is still depressed when the lease is up then BMWFS will negotiate a generous buyout. It's a win-win for you.

335i. Better handling, better performing, more room, MUCH better warranty, much better dealer service. RWD. Better balance.

The S5 is gorgeous. That's all that I can say positive about it. It's pretty.

FWIW, we currently own an Audi and a 335i. This is my 4th BMW product in 7 years and I look forward to driving my 335i. Get a used CPO 335i and you're really getting a deal - like 40-50% off MSRP.
