I was trying to understand the market for buying a car right now in terms of pricing! I am looking at purchasing a 2009 BMW 328i sedan in Houston, TX. I was told by the dealership I visited that any 3 series sedan can be had for 3% OVER invoice. He said on average there is a 7% mark-up on those vehicles and he would let me take my pick at anything they have for 3% over invoice. Is that reasonable? I have seen others on the forum say that they are getting cars at invoice or below for the 2009 models? What should I be looking at paying for this car? I was looking to finance and take advantage of the 0.9% for 60 months with them paying for the first 2 car payments! Please HELP! =)

Unless you MUST have a new car, considering looking into 2006 and 2007 CPO (certified pre-owned) models as you'll get the same car with a 50% discount. 50% is a big chunk of savings. And think about the way that new 328 will fall in 2-3 years if 2007s are going for 55% of MSRP. |

Why won't a 328 work for a baby? I just moved to a 3 series 4 door expressly because we had a baby. He fits with tons of room, my wifecan sit in the front or back and the trunk easily swallows his gear, plus whatever we need. Heck, we used my car for a costco run last weekend. Kids are small and contrary to current belief you don't need much to travel with them (small snap'n'go like stolller, small diaper bag and his infant seat/base). |

I'm looking at a used BMW 328i that had been a dealer loaner. It has just about 7500 miles. Titanium silver with grey leather interior. Premium package and iPod connectivity. Internet price is $31,880 which looks pretty good when you surf around the net. All the dealers in the Houston area are priced within a couple of thousand for the same type. So...looks like a good price but I'm certainly not going to say "Yea baby" and walk out the door. Would offering $29K be too low? Thanks!
