Read this wiki on ED - yes, I've ordered a BMW via ED (paid 35.7k for a 42k 330i in 2006):

http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index.php/ED_Order

You should never pay the ED listed price from BMW's site.

You can negotiate $1,000 over ED wholesale price.

There is a an ED wholesale price list on bimmerfest.com for 08s anyways.

Net net pricing guideline is you can get the price down 11% from U.S. MSRP although you need to get the actual pricing info for the model and option you are buying and load into a spreadsheet.

Check my post on how to get the pricing sheets:

My deal on a 2008 335i by bigpapaluke

So after much bantering with Hendrick BMW of Charlotte, I want's able to get a solid deal on an 2008 model. For those in the Charlotte market, if you are looking for a deal on BMW, I would recommend going to other dealerships that within reasonable driving distance, since my experience in Charlotte was less than stellar.

With that said, I was able to work out the following deal with BMW South in Atlanta:

2008 335i Sedan
Manual Transmission
Silver metallic paint / black interior
Premium Package
Sports Package
iDrive
Comfort access
Satellite
iPod USB
Split rear seats
Park distance control

MSRP: $49,345
Selling Price: $45,985
Acquisition Fee: $725
Cap Cost: $47,309 (includes acquisition and $599 roadside hazard)
Residual: 56% (3 years / 15K a year)
Money Factor: .0014
Tax: 3%

Monthly payment: $671 / month
Upfront: $1590 (first month's payment, $149 documentation fee, $3 lemon law, $700 security deposit, $65 registration fee)

I personally think this is a great deal, but would welcome other people's opinions. Happy shopping everyone

Thank you for your info. Wow, a lot of detail. This is extremely helpful. The deal sounds great to me. I'm also look at leasing a 335i with the exact option and I'm in the Los Angeles area. Can you provide the dealership and contact for this deal? I would greatly appreciate it.

I just purchased a 2008 328xi and want to make sure that I got a good deal. The MSRP is 45,100. Thr selling price is $42,100. I am only paying up front costs, Security deposit $600, Bank Fee $625, tax and tags $150, 1st month. They are also paying my disposition fee of $350 for my Audi. I was quoted a 12K mile/36 month lease a total of $595 per month including tax.
The car is fully loaded and less expensive to lease than the 2009 Audi A4.
Thanks,

I thought this lease deal was pretty good (New Century, Alhambra, CA)

328i
Navi
Steptronic
Premium Pkg

MSRP: 40300
Invoice: 37690
Selling price: 36690 (-3610 off MSRP, -1000 off invoice)

15K 36 mos (56% residual)

MF = 0.00091 (w/ 4000 sec deposit)

Monthly payment inc. tax = 483

Drive off = 5731
includes:
License fee: 303
Bank fee: 898
First month
Security deposit = 4000

Lease would've been 0 security deposit with 524/mo, and total lease payments would've been 20K and some change

With 4000 security deposit and 483/mo, total lease payments ~18600.

--experience--

Salesperson saved me $1400 because I didn't know about MSDs. First dealership I went to didn't even bother telling me about MSDs

Also, salesperson had his lease calc on his computer in front of me the whole time, and did a 'print screen' when we were done. Took the time to go over lease calculations until I figured out how to do it right. All this, and didn't ask any questions initially but went below invoice without having to haggle to get there.

multiple security deposits = the ability to buy down the money factor. you get them back at lease-end. I had ten of them on my 330i in 2003.

" Most leases will require you to pay a security deposit at inception. If a MSD program is available, you pay more than one security deposit. Each additional security deposit will lower your interest rate by a certain amount. That lower interest rate will result in a lower monthly payment. You can calculate an implied rate of return by comparing the monthly savings against the initial "capital outlay" (the additional security deposits). For example, if you pay 6 security deposits at $600 each ($3600 capital outlay), and your new monthly payment is lower by $30 per month compared to your original payment without the 6 MSD, your yearly savings is $360. Applied against the initial capital outlay of $3600, your implied rate of return based on the yearly savings of $360 is 10% - TAX FREE and GUARENTEED. At the end of the lease, you get your $3600 back.

Different manufacturers may have different programs. Some will not have such a program."
