Yes, you get charged tax on the full price of the car in IL (and TX as far as i know) for lease, if you have a trade-in, you pay only the difference between the tax of your trade and the tax on the new car (that is by law in IL, so if the sales rep tells you his giving you a credit on the tax because you're his friend, he is full of it).

The only way I can get close to those numbers is:
MF: .00190 like you said
Residual: 56% of $44170 = $23615.20
Payments = $682.03/mo (including taxes, assuming 36 months, assuming 6.5% tax rate)
Due at signing = Only your 1st month payment..

IMO, they're giving you a very low residual considering that it should be 58% for 15K/yr (taken from Roadfly.com forums, lease rates reference for Oct07)
36 Month – Residual 58% of MSRP – .00190 Base Rate

Using 58%, will put you at $658/mo ballpark..

The only way to get lower than that, is to jump into 39 months lease (which maintains the same rates and resuduals as 36) and it'll put you into the $618mo ballpark

Good luck

Hi I'm kind of in the same boat as the person you are replying too...Im looking for a really good deal on a bmw 328 and was seeing what you could do to help me. I was considering financing (because carfinder.com said that its 3.4 percent from bmw financial through nov. 30) or leasing....i just want to get a good deal. and pay as close to invoice as possible...but all the dealers here in LA don't want to negotiate. thanks

I am new here, but love this forum (after spending many many hours reading through all these great posts) and am looking to go out this weekend. I saw this deal as well for $389 / mo. Does anyone have any advice about the lease special currently going on?

Jamen6:

You won't get a ton of negotiating as there's not much wiggle room off invoice cost for bimmers. Best bet is to get an internet quote from dealers in your area and compare. Then, go to the lowest bidder and try to knock down the price a little more.

anyhow, relating to buying experiences, I'm curious as to what everyone thought of paying cash for the car. Are the dealers more inclined to negotiate the price if the transaction is completed that day? the financing seems like a pretty good deal, so paying all cash has given me some pause.

Thoughts?

On 10-14-07 I bought a brand new 2007 328i sport wagon with 6 miles on the clock and with premium and sports package in silver/black for $38,325 from Vista BMW in Florida. From the Kelley Blue book value, this was the invoice price. Jack

Forgot to add my payment worked out to be $568 Tax included. On a side note I went and put down a deposit which will go towards my first month, security deposit(refundable). I am waiting to formally sign papers till I speak to a friend of mine at BMW finance. Curious if he can help me get a better financing deal than thru the dealer.
