I will be putting my deposit down on Saturday, so should be able to give you a good idea on how it went and if you should go there too. All the best, Matt

I placed an order for a 330ci on 1/21. Status from the dealer is that "it is in the system". He forwarded a copy of his daily inventory recap and my vehicle is listed with a status code of 47 and is in the “order bank”. It also shows what appears to be a requested build date of week 9 ( I think that is next week). I thought I would receive a production number or VIN fairly soon after placing an order, but nada! Can someone, who is familiar with the ordering process (and allocations) works, provide some insight as to whether this is normal… or is my dealer short on allocations and I’m stuck in limbo land until he lands another one?

Replying to: np1 (Feb 16, 2006 7:04 pm) I think it really depends on where you are located. Here in Jersey we have over 10+ dealers, many of which are within 20-30 minutes of one another. In Texas for instance, I have heard of people rarely getting over 1500 below msrp. I think a "good" price right now would be between 500-750 over invoice. 750-1000 seems decent. 1000+ seems high, but again it depends how many BMW dealers are in your neck of the woods. This price should include any MACO/Adverstising or other fees they would tack on, excluding only Doc Fee. I recommend figuring out a good Out The Door figure factoring in your tax rate, their doc fee, and your motor vehicle registration expenses. In doing so you won't be surprised by hidden figures at the end of your deal. Good luck! The car is worth it! Regards, Matt

Any reputable and honest BMW dealers in Arlington VA, Alexandria VA or Maryland (near Andrews AFB) area. Also, what is the acquisition fee and what amount should it be.

I want to purchase a 2006 330i (Monaco Blue with Tan or Grey Leather--not sure which looks better--premium package, automatic, cold weather package, SIRRUS pre wire, automatic sun shades, comfort control --all for sure) Will probably buy as opposed to lease and probably will not trade though I do have 2004 LEXUS GX 470 and 2004 low mileage SAAB 9.3 Aero Convertible(sweet!)which I am considering letting go of. My problem is this. I know what I want and do want at least the options I have listed. I am not opposed to ordering the car. I live in Dallas/FortWorth area and it appears to be a sellers' market. I know what I want and am indifferent as to where I purchase the car. It could even be a fun road trip taking it home. Any advice???? Thanks

But the salesman did say that there was no documentation fee. What other hidden charges could there be? I didn't see any floor mats in the car I test drove. Would I have to pay extra fro the floor mats? If so, that is ridiculous.

The production number is produced before the order is even placed, so you and your salesperson should have that. (FYI: That is the only way they were able to look up your order and tell you what the status was...) A VIN will be produced right when the car starts production. When you place an order, it does not necessarily immediately go into production. Dealers have assigned allocation for every week. If they already have their allocation filled for the current week or if the current week's allocation has already gone to production, then you'll have to wait until the next round. When a car is marked as "sold" (aka: customer order), then it moves closer to the front of the line and expedited to some degree. FWIW, if you car is allocated for "Week 9" production, then that means it will be completed within the 9th week of the year, which is the week of 2/27-3/3. You'll be amazed at how fast your car may move from "On Order" to "Produced, Not Shipped"... The car can move from "On Order" into production in one day and then the car may only take 2or 3 days to actually build. Patience is the toughest thing when ordering a car. Don't worry... It'll come.

Good morning. I am interested in buying a 325xi through European Delivery. The US MSRP comes out to 35,520 with auto and BMW Assist. I have a few questions: 1. Where are you guys getting your ED invoice prices? I read in an earlier post that they are available on a competitor's website (BF) but I could not find it there. 2. Is there anyone in the NYC area that has negotiated an ED price recently? I see people throwing out 800-1500 over ED invoice, but I'd like to get a feel for whether it's closer to 800 or 1500. 3. What is the typical production time on a 3 series car? I told a salesguy at a dealer that I'd like to travel to Europe in mid-May and he said I should place the order no later than the 2nd week of March. Thanks for your help, Peter
