| I have a 1996 silverado Z71 that runs great but the 4wd recently quit working the front driveshaft spins but the front tires dont. It is a push button 4wd system and when I push the button it just blinks and stays in 2WD. I have no idea what is going on. any ideas or ways to fix this would be great | |

Replying to: canayjun64 (Aug 29, 2002 11:26 am) I recently just bought an 04 silverado 4x4 extended cab w/ the vortec 4.8. When I bought the truck it had 66,500 miles on it. The dealer that I had bought it from took it to a garage and got it inspected for me, as well as an oil change. The sticker that was put in my windshield says that the next service should be This morning i got in my truck and everything looked fine, but when i got done work i got in my truck and started it and i noticed that the change engine oil came over the display. Now my engine light is on. Is this on because my truck is saying to change the engine oil or should i bring it to a garage and get the code checked? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Once again i apologize if i am taking over someones post. p.s. Could someone explain to me how to create a new post? |

Hey guys, My 2002 Silverado 1500 had the alternator go on it last week. I changed it out and now my battery light is coming on intermitantly. The voltage measured with a multimeter coming off the alternator is a good 14.5 and its registering the same on the gauge in the cab. I changed out the belt while I had everything apart so I don't see the belt slipping. I flip on my AC to max and I see the power draw down on the gauge, never did that before. Any idea's???

Replying to: jneal (Oct 04, 2006 3:34 pm) I was thinking I might have hosed the battery driving it back home after the original alternator went south. I have a life time warranty on the new alternator so maybe I'll give that another shot before I replace the battery. |
