dyf,

There are people much smarter (mouthed too) than I out there. If you want more on the FL aspects you could check out my posts # 698, 705, and 740 in this forum. You can also Google for the FL Insurance Commissioner as they have the reins. Bottom line is you should pay the same price for the same exact warranty regardless of location in FL.

Whenever a company sells insurance, they do it because they expect to make money on the insurance. That means, on average, they come out ahead. So if you pay $1500 for your policy, on average the policy will pay out less than $1500.

Insurance is a good idea for catastrophic expenses. If you lose your house, you probably won't be able to handle the expense, so insurance is a good idea. Most people can't afford to pay for a full course of cancer treatments, so catastrophic health insurance is also a good idea. If you destroy someone's car in a wreck that is your fault, do you have tens of thousands of dollars to replace it? Hence liability insurance.

But for expenses you can afford, insurance is a bad deal. Yes, if my toaster breaks and I have the extended warranty, I'll feel good - just like if I play slots and I win some money. But if I buy extended warranties on every product I own, I'll be losing money over time, just like if I play slots on a regular basis.

I'm not saying it's stupid to buy an extended warranty for your car - I have one myself - just that there are good reasons not to do so.

So, is it worth me cancelling the original warranty that I just purchased through my dealership 7 yr, 100K for $1280 (which was part of financing) and getting the same thing for $180 less?

Having it financed makes it bit of a sticky-wicket

It depends on the bank, but most credit your account with the refund and it comes off the "back end" of the loan. So you pay the same payment as you would with the HC financed in, but at the end of the loan you will owe fewer payments. Some banks could re-do the loan so you pay the same number of payments, but less each month. From what I have heard, the first method is the one Honda Financial uses.

Dragnet(8 to 5 except on weekends?),

Suggest you scroll up about 20 messages or so for details. Bernardi IS aka hondawarrantyinfo.com as I just learned. I believe they're in PA but it looks like most of their biz is done online.

Happy shopping.

The Difference in Honda Care Price is large depending on where you buy? by manueltrans1

My ordered car just arrived at the dealership. I ask for Honda Care Extended Warranty. I got a quote from the dealer I bought the car from for $1650 for 8 years and 120,000 miles. Now on the Internet I found a Jayhonda.com
who is selling the same thing for $945, a difference of $700. The cheaper price that they charge me on the car they are trying to make it back from the warranty. Is this Jayhonda.com a legitimate dealer? Can Honda care be bought on the Internet? Also HondaCareWarranty.com has promotions that save up to $255. Can this be applied to the Dealer's proposed price? Any information would be helpful. The dealer is pressing me to make a decision very fast.

I suggest you go back about 100 posts and start reading. It will only take ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES AND YOU WILL GET ALL YOUR ANSWERS.

Nortsr1 - Thank you for saying what should be said more often.

Newcomers & Oldies alike,
Chances are, you are not the first one to have a question or a problem. Many before you have gone through or asked the very same thing. There's nothing wrong with asking but do yourself a favor. Back up for say 10-20 pages of posts, and if you can't find an answer in even 5 or 10 minutes, then ask. Edmunds search tools aren't Google and we're not expecting miracles. It's just that some of these same issues were gone over in the past week. Please don't be surprised if you get a response of see post #___. Not negative here, just tired of reruns.

Glad to help!
