Can you explain this a bit further ? Does CA / FLA have some sort of law that prohibits the use of a honda vsc in those states if purchased elsewhere ?

No, they do not. The Honda VSC is good at any Honda dealer in the country.

What Florida has is a law stating that service contracts may not be purchased out of state for Florida residents. It does not say that service contracts purchased outside of the state can not be used in Florida.

If you have a legal address outside the state of Florida, Honda will sell you a service contract and it will be good at Florida dealers.

The California law is a little more vague. So some online dealers stopped selling there while others did not.

2010 Pilot Touring - Honda Care - D82 - 8yr / 120k $0 ded by hemlock87

A Philly metro dealer was willing to price match +$100 the lowest internet price I could find, which was $1,235 from the Rhode Island Honda dealer often mentioned on this forum. They were great to work with and responded the next day with their price match counteroffer. Thought this was a great way to leverage the potential internet competition while also eliminating potential issues with Honda corporate if the Honda Care contract was bought from a "problem" dealer.

There's really no such issue as "problem" dealers. The contract is issued from the Honda corporate offices in California no matter which dealer it is purchased from. Your VIN number goes into the national database so all dealers can see you have the coverage.

Extended warranty purchased for my 09 Accord V6 by accordguy0325

Hello all

I just bought a 96 month, 120,000 mile total vehicle warranty from Bernardi Honda online for $ 930.00 with a $ 100.00 deductible. I chose the payment plan which equaled out to $ 117.00 down *included a 24.00 service fee* , and roughly $ 69.00 a month for 12 months interest free.

They also threw in a $ 30.00 gift certificate towards Bernardi Honda parts which I intend to use for touch up paint- etc.

I just went online on Bernardi Honda website and it said that it does not sell warranties to people who have California addresses and that I have to purchase it through an in-state dealer! That makes no sense since the vehicle is identified by its VIN and not the state of registration. Can some one shed light on this in case they have also encountered this problem? I was quoted $995 for 8/100,000 or $1095 8/120,000 by a dealer in Louisiana. thanks!

California and Florida have restricted sales of online warranties. Blame the state in which you live, not Bernardi.

If I purchase an extended warranty online from any Honda dealer in the US(I live in CA) before Nov. 2, will AHM service department honor the warranty if and when I need it? I just bought my brand new 2009 Accord less than a month back.
Thanks!

As long as you act before Nov 2, 2009 you'll be able to purchase the warranty online-(unless you live in California or Florida which is forbidden based on the laws of those states) which is then routed through Honda corporate (I believe in California of all places) and your warranty will be set up so that all Honda dealers can see you have coverage. You should also receive a welcome package from Honda USA regarding your warranty including ID cards for service/ roadside assistance/ etc.

Some believe the law in CA regarding service contracts is vague, so some dealers have chosen not to sell contracts in CA while others continue to do so. Here's an online dealer that does for example:

http://www.collegehillshonda.com/hondacare/warranty.htm

And yes, any contract that you purchase before November 2nd will be valid. You actually receive your paperwork from the corporate office no matter which dealer it is purchased from. It's all the same, just priced differently.

Extended warranty for 09 civic LX auto by ichjennifer

Hi, I am new to this forum. I bought the extended warranty at the dealership in San Diego. The price is $1895 for 6yr/80,000miles, and I pay $200 more to have 0 deductible.
So total is $2095. I didn't research this forum before I bought.
After I saw other people's post, I am not sure if I bought too expensive, so I called the dealership, and they told me this is an EXCLUSIVE warranty, (like bumper to bumper or sth like that). So I am wondering if the extended warranties that people bought on line are exclusive warranties too or it just covered some parts or they are actually the same?
The dealship said that if I can find some other dealership who sells the same contract for lower price, they can try to match it, but where can I find those contracts?
I tried to link to the webpage given in the previous thread
http://www.collegehillshonda.com/hondacare/warranty.htm for honda civic excluded hybrid. But the pdf link is not valid.

Can anyoneo kindly tell me if $2095 for an exclusive warranty a reasonable price?
Or even if it is exclusive warranty, the price should be below $1000?

I just got the VSC today, on page 2. Coverage section, in A. PARTS section, it says
" All VEHICLE parts are covered by this CONTRACT, subject to the therms and conditions herein and EXCEPT AS EXCLUDED BY ARTICLE IV. so in the later pages, there are LOTS of exceptions written in article IV."
Is everyone's VSC the same as mine and is less expensive?

Thanks for reading.
