Absolutely cancel both...listen to your gut. Then go online to one of those Massachussetes dealers and buy from them if you must have an extended warranty. A shame you didn't read through this forum before you bought the car, would've saved much aggravation. But it is what it is. Get out of it, buy online & move on and really enjoy your new ride . Shame that this has spoiled the new car experience somewhat .   The Sandman

I read about buying Honda extended warranties online on this board, so when I picked up my new 09 accord this week, I came right home and bought the 72month/120K package with $100 deduct from Sacurri (sp?) that night. Sounds like a great way for the company to use your money interest free for 6 years, without risk. You decide to file the claim, then the refund is gone. What if the air conditioner then goes bad?   By the way. I've read that most compamies selling these policies 5+ years ago, are no longer in business. Will this company be. Think AIG.

We purchased a 2008 Honda Pilot ExL in Feb. of 2008. We put on roughly 27k miles in the first 12 months we owned the Pilot. As I understand it there's a basic 3 year/36k warranty, and a 5 year/60k mile drivetrain warranty. I understand we can purchase an extended warranty for up to 8 years/120k miles.   The question is: if we're going to be at 120k miles in roughly another 3 years, does anyone think it's really worth it to purchase the EW? I understand we can purchase an extended warranty for up to 8 years/120k miles.   You can only get the 8 year 120k mile warranty before the vehicle reaches the 6,000 mile mark.   Between 6,000 miles and 36,000 miles, the warranties are sold in terms that begin when the warranty is purchased (as opposed to when the vehicle was placed in service as the 8 year, 120k warranty would have been)   For example, If you go to myhondawarranty.com and put in 27,000 miles on a 2008 pilot, the maximum warranty you can currently buy is a 5 year 84,000 mile warranty. But that mileage is added on to your existing mileage. So mileage wise you'll be covered until 111,000 miles. (27k + 84k)   Only you can decide if that additional 84,000 miles of coverage is worth the cost.

Just got a 09 Odyessy... we got the 72mo 100,000 extended - now im beginning to regret it. ive had honda's forever some with over 100,000 miles and never had problems. is it worth the money? from the dealer it was 1899.00 with the option if unused they will refund it - however if i do decide to keep it i think ill cancel that one and go with one from that web site for less than half the cost none refundable.   what are your thoughts - are the warranties needed? I talked to a dealer in December and they wanted 1400 for the 7 year/84k warranty/$50...then I found this website and I knew that I could do better. I would cancel it and buy it through one of the online resellers if I were you. I am in MA where Bernardi Honda is located, they are one of the online sellers and I can tell you that they are a legitimate dealer. I ended up at another dealership b/c of price, but they honored the Bernardi price on the warranty.   Hope that helps. Replying to: rudinsky (Mar 23, 2009 9:43 am) I had a major steering column repair on my 06 pilot that happened at 35000 miles...the car needed the entire steering column replaced at a cost of more than $3000...luckily I was still within the 3 yr/36k warranty... I didn't have the extended warranty b/c that was a lease. Since that happened and I am planning to keep this Odyssey for 10-12 years, I figured that I could justify the investment.
