For older cars, what you stated is correct. Apparently the contracts are handled differently and priced accordingly. Coverage for a new auto begins when the vehicle is originally put into service and at zero miles. Coverage for a pre-owned plan(vehicles over 6,000 miles) begins on the service contract purchase date, and at the mileage on the odometer on that date. This statement seems misleading to me and should be worded differently. Further clarification is needed regarding exactly when the coverage ends. I am sure others have made the same mistake that I made.

Finally I found this at officialhondacare-at-delrayacura.com and was able to see that you were 100% correct: Do you have a 2006-2007 Honda with less than 6000 miles? If your Honda was placed in service Jan-2006 & you buy 8Yr/100k mi extended warranty in 2007, your 8/100 warranty would expire in Jan-2014 or at 100k miles ...whichever occurs 1st (even though it's a 2007 warranty purchase) . . . . O R . . . for ALL other eligible Hondas? An example: If your Honda has 34000 miles and you buy the 4 yr / 48k miles Plan on a "certain day" 2007. You will be covered until you either reach 82000 miles or until "certain day" 2011. Whichever occurs first, mileage or date What if my Honda has over 36,000 miles or is over 36 months? Under either of those 2 conditions, American Honda will only accept Honda Care applications if they are purchased at the time the Honda is purchased. Therefore, unfortunately, our site cannot help you purchase a Honda Care extended warranty.

I only knew how they worked because I have been posting on this thread for some time now. The examples you found at Delray Acura definitely cleared up the matter. Nice find. |

Pretty much any dealer will sell you one by phone, so they weren't trying to ban that. However, without being able to advertise and sell over the internet, its doubtful they would have the quantity of sales that they had previously and they may not be able to offer such low prices. |

In a dark, deep past this forum was once oriented to why consumers should not purchase a HCEW. Non purchasers ruled the forum and it was not consumer oriented. To that it may return, justified this time if the online dealers are forced out. Honda makes a helluva vehicle but crap doth happen. Whether you buy or not is a function of price. At retail prices I may turn to a negative postion. Shame shame shame. |
