Recently purchased a Honda Certified 2003 Odyssey and think the Extended Warranty I agreed to buy is excessive. The van has 79,000 miles on it so I basically paid $1295 for 21,000 miles or May 2010. Did I get ripped off? I feel like I did ... could I cancel it and get the same bumper-to-bumper coverage somewhere else?

What company is providing the extended warranty? Since the vehicle has so many miles on it, I think you may have trouble finding a better price. Honda Care doesn't even sell extended coverage if the vehicle is older than 3 years or has more than 36,000 miles.

It's with Honda Care. I just think the price should be prorated or something. I don't know.

Well, I knew Honda Care could be transferred from the original purchaser to a used car buyer. But I didn't know that a dealer could sell the balance of a 7 year, 100,000 mile Honda Care to someone buying a certified used Honda. That's a new one for me.

If they were able to do that, make sure you get all of your paperwork from Honda Care. And even though it sounds costly, I don't think you're going to get any coverage for less money because the vehicle has so many miles on it already---there's a higher probability that something could go wrong.

US Fidelis by finzz

I just called US Fidelis on my 2005 Accord EX w/ Nav. 79,483 miles

They will cover the car for an additional 80,000 miles or additional 5 years and want $2,675.

That gives me coverage up to nearly 160,000 miles.

I haven't done much research yet, although, Honda Warranty won't cover me as I'm over 36,000 miles.

Any thoughts on whether or not this sounds like a reasonable deal?

Thanks very much and Merry Christmas!!

It sounds quite expensive to me, and I don't trust the company offering it at all. I did a quick internet search and found that a number of online posters believe US Fidelis to be directly related to National Auto Warranty Services, which has acquired a very poor reputation. However, I suggest you make up your own mind after googling the following search terms: us fidelis national auto warranty services

My personal advice would be to either stick with Honda Care or self-insure.

Honda Care Warranty on certified Civic over 3 years by ldog01

As I posted earlier, I am unable to get the Honda Care Warranty on my 06 Civic because it's past the 3 year in service date. However, one of the dealers I called said there is a specific Honda Care warranty for certified Hondas that I can only get from the dealer I purchased the car from. She thought it was the "h70" Honda Care warranty. I googled and can't find anything about an "h70" contract. Is anybody familiar with anything like this?

$2675 is a lot of money and would pay for any major repair that you may encounter over the next few years.

My advice is save your money so you can pay for any major repair yourself.

Honda Care Warranty for a 2008 Odyssey with over 6,000 miles by wolfman91

I was planning to purchase an extended warranty for my new 2008 Odyssey, but I was hesitant to purchase one because of how much my local dealer was charging ($2073 for 84mos/120k). I thought I would just take care of it after Christmas. Unfortunately, we went on a trip and drove about 1,000 miles. The van now has about 6,400 miles on it. Does this mean that I can no longer purchase a new Honda Care warranty?

I wish I had discovered this forum sooner. It appears that 72mos/102k is now the best I can do. Some of the dealers like Saccucci and Bernardi will quote prices for an extended warranty for the van, but are these bumper-to-bumper Honda Care warranties? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can we hear a howl ? Please. You are in luck.
HCOA considers new to be 8,000 or less. You were wise to ignore the exorbitant prices of your dealer, but still may purchase from any of your online alternatives. Post back and we'll supply. So you can purchase a new HC extended warranty and get new care pricing.
The only complication will come from if you reside in the " we've got big electoral college votes states of FL or CA " In their wisdom, they have decided that such divination should only occurr from state designed AAL. Apologies to the legitimate AAL. If you are not, you can go online and get a real deal. If not then you are screwed, thinking scooby doo untranslatable.
But there are remedial alternatives so do not remorse.

It was suggested to me from a great person on this forum to send out quote requests for the warranty. I am one of the unfortunate ones living in California that are not allowed to buy extended warranties online (although they will sell them to you...and its argued if you can or can not buy them). I ended up sending out about 20 request and two dealerships agreed to my amount ($925.00 for the 7yr/80k mile with no deductible). This was within a few dollars of the best online price. I saved nearly $600.00 from the dealers price !!!! Good luck with this. If you need the dealership name in California I used let me know. You might also want to call Honda Corporate about the mileage. I was told the mileage can not exceed 6k
