Replying to: tidester (Dec 09, 2008 4:29 pm) "You should be able to get a prorated cancellation refund based either on miles driven or time elapsed. Typically, there would be a cancellation fee deducted from a refund. " I am not aware of a cancellation fee but I stand willing to be corrected if I haven't read my contract thoroughly. I shall go back and review. There is a $50 transfer fee if you transfer to another buyer ( one time option) but other than that my understanding is that it is all prorated.

To those that don't, no problem either but factual data as well please. |

I just purchased an 06 civic. I very stupidly just realized that the original sale date of the car to the original owner was 10/05. So, it's actually past the 3 year in-service date to make it eligible to purchase a Honda care warranty. My question is, if I just claim I don't know the vehicle in-service date, can I get away with buying a Honda care warranty? If I didn't have the Carfax report, I don't think I'd have any way of knowing. Is there any chance I'd get away with just checking the "less than 3 years" box? Or, will any dealer I'm buying the warranty from have those records? Or, will any dealer I'm getting the car serviced at have the same records?

I suspect the latter and that the vin# will be your undoing. There's always Warranty Direct although the latter's plan is inferior to HCEW. |

Replying to: ezshift5 (Dec 19, 2008 6:14 am) My understanding is that you can get the refund on the lesser amount between prorated miles and prorated time. In your case, the mileage refund would be (20/80) × $585 = $146.25 versus the time refund (2.5/6) × $585 = $243.75. tidester, host SUVs and Smart Shopper |
