Edmunds SLK 0-60 time for SLK by oedipus1608

The SLK230's supercharged four-cylinder engine (SLK230) makes 192 horsepower, but for those who prefer the smooth torquey feel of a V6, the SLK320 offers a 3.2-liter, 215 horsepower V6. A six-speed manual is standard on both models, with a five-speed TouchShift automanual optional. The 0-to-60 mph sprinting ability of either model is respectable, with the 230 running that dash in around 7.5 seconds and the 320 beating that time by around a second. As one would expect, the performance of the SLK32 is thrilling, as it dispatches that performance yardstick in just 4.8 ticks of the stopwatch.

Notice that the Edmunds said that the SLK230 has a 0-60 time of 7.5 and the SLK320 has a 0-60 time a second less than the SLK230 which would be as I said before 6.5 seconds.

I saw a Crossfire on the road in Detroit.
The features I liked were:
Fin that came up when the vehicle was accelerating.
Nice metallic paint.
Very distinctive styling.
It was a head turner.

Well gang, I just finished watching Motor Week and they highlighted a 215 Turbo Neon, which they reported went from 0-60 in 6.0 flat on the Georgia Speedway. However, they did point out the track was cold and damp, which leads me to think it could do better with hot tires. If the engine being used is the same turbo as in the Neon it should be adequate.......I think. However, I still feel with 18" tires, it needs for HP. Maybe they are trying to save the transmission and drivetrain. It will be interesting to see what type of warranty comes with this car.

Where did you get that they are putting a turbo in the Crossfire? It's equipped with the Mercedes 3.2 liter.

I didn't know whether or not it's the same engine or not. I just made an observation that Chrysler had a 215 hp. engine in their Neon that was tested on Motorweek yesterday that got 0-60 in 6.0 sec. that sold for $19,900 fully equipped. I was wondering if it was the same engine. Since Chrysler and Mercedes are a joint venture, it is very possible it could have been the same engine, just tuned differently. The discussion was whether the Crossfire could get the job done with only 215 h.p., hence I made a comparison.

The Chrysler Crossfire's engine,is taken from the current production MB-SLK. The MB-SLK has a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds. However, the Crossfire weighs less than the MB-SLK so I would expect the Crossfire to be a little faster. The new SLK is currently undergoing final testing and will be shown to the public sometime soon. Chrysler does not want the Crossfire to step on the SLK's turf when it hits the streets.
