Hi all, New to the forum gig but thought I might share some info I just received from an Internet sales dept. here in Northern NJ.

THE FOLLOWING INTERNET SALES PRICE IS ONLY VALID THROUGH OUR INTERNET DEPT. *

Your special internet quote for a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD RES is $29,985 INCLUDING the $595 destination charge, charged by Honda. The MSRP for this vehicle is $35,440 . Our internet department is a separate sales department at Mahwah Honda. Please make sure to ask for me when you call or visit our dealership.

Here's the situation I have a 2004 EX-L w/ RES sage brush pearl, with almost 53K miles on it. Currently leased through AHFC 42 mo. $479/mo. (15k mi a yr.)coming up on 40 months. It's residual is approx $19K. It's in great shape and my wife loves it.

My options are to buy it in May, throw some new tires on it and go from there.
Not to interested in leasing as my miles are excessive nowadays.
Or go with buying a new Pilot just like the one I have - Should I be wary of the Internet special stated above? are there any questions that I should be asking with regards to the pilot they are offering up? Thanks Bob

I don't think that you should be wary of an internet deal, just get them to put all the fees down in writing before you go in, so that you have an out the door price confirmed with them. A lot of them will try to add pinstripe fees and other little things once you get to the dealer if you do not have it all settled prior to the purchase.

you may want to contact Koon's Honda in Manassas VA. They included in my quote something called Auto4Life, which covers your powertrain (engine, transmission, drive axle system, and internally lubricated parts) for as long as you own the vehicle, regardless of years or mileage. I am not sure if this is as good as your extended warranty, but may be worth checking out to see how it compares...

eaglepilot,

Where in GA did you end up buying? I am getting ready to pull the trigger on an 2WD EX-L in the next couple weeks, and I'm trying to prepare. I am in Sandy Springs, but plan on blanketing 15 local dealers within 50 miles for bids. Thanks!

chandler111 - I gather ur from NoVA, me too. I am thinking of getting the same car (07 Pilot 4WD EX-L), and will start emailing nearby dealers soon. Was your quote of $29,700 OTD from Koons Honda? Can u give me a short list of the dealers you took quotes from? Thanks much.

I am from NoVA and on 1/26 I bought 4WD LX for 25,274.85 OTD at Ourisman Honda Bethesda. I admit I hated the drive, but they beat Koons Honda and Leesburg Honda (my best 2 offers) by 500, as well as everyone else by 1K.

1. Car 23,700.
2. Dealer processing fee 100.
3. Destination 595.
4. Va tax (3%) 761.85.
5. Tag & Title Fees 118.

I used Navy Federal for the loan at 5.5% and sold my old car to CarMax.

The sales manager is Lock (not sure if that's spelled right). I bet if you did some of your own math with the figures I have given you that you could finagle a similar (or even better) deal on what you want. If I had wanted to be persistent I probably could have not paid some of the junk fees....and if you get lucky, maybe closer to home too!

All in all it's a great car and the treatment at that dealership was very good. Good Luck!

thanks valemon, this is a good start and this dealer is going to be on my short list. I want to make a short list because I do not wish to give my contact info to so many area dealers - probably >20 within 60 miles!
