negotiating with a trade - over the phone? by aspesisteve

You guys are pointing out why negotiating a sale price including trade over the phone can be a waste of time.

Setting the price on the trade and determining the condition, unseen, is so subjective that it gives the dealer the chance to pull the rug out from under you after you drive into his lot.

to be fair, some people think their trade is worth allot more than it really is.

make sure you get a price without trade so you can have something solid to hang on to.

I totally agree that you need to get the price for the vehicle without any associated trade-in. The trade value should be evaluated separately and is very subjective and a number of methods have been mentioned here. The only value that a Carmax offer has is that it sets the bottom since you know you can already get that amount.

But that bottom could be pretty low.

I think you have a pretty good deal in hand. Ask them to give you an out-the-door price to ensure they don't have any surprises and ask if they will include for that price any extras (cargo mat, splash guards) that you may want.

Is this a good internet price? by sysadmin1

I am in Manchester NH and this dealer is right down the street.

You indicated that you have an interest in a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L with navigation in the color of Nimbus Grey(stock# A570145). This vehicle has an MSRP of $36,040.00 and an internet sales price of $33,007.00 *.

I think Ive read that some are getting this NAD model for less, but if they hold to that is it a good price or can they go lower?

Currently have an 04 EX-L and love it, but time for a new one and bought it at the same dealer, think they would go lower with owner loyalty type thing?

Thanks

I have an offer until the end of the month for $32100 including destination charge. I have a couple others as well right the $32,500 invoice.

Not sure if we're buying this, a Highlander or possibly even a Murano but we're thinking it's a great deal if you compare it to Edmunds TMV for the Twin Cities. I don't know what they'll offer yet for our trade so we'll have to go from there.
