Purchased 2007 Pilot EX-L 4WD with NAV for $32K by ed108

Purchased for $32,000 + TTL which was about $500 below invoice. Probably could have gone a few hundred lower if I was willing to wait. In central Texas where I live, 4WD EX-L with NAV are hard to find apparently. I called every dealer within 70 miles and there were only 3 available between all of them last week. A couple said they'd dealer trade for me but since the closest vehicles were 400-500 miles away they'd charge me a delivery fee. So I figured $500 below invoice is decent and bought one.

The same dealer where I purchased was willing to sell one without NAV for $30K + TTL.

Doc fees were $45. I have read some of the other messages where people pay $300 doc fees. That is insane. A doc fee is pure profit for the dealer. This would be like going to Best Buy, buying a $2000 TV and then getting charged a $20 "Ringing you up at the cash register fee". Any time a dealer tells me there is a doc fee(or any other non-state/county mandated fee) for over $100 I walk out the door.

I purchased the Pilot at Stockton, CA. Their "sister" dealership is at Lodi. I would try Lodi and see if you can a better deal. Some of the managers at Stockton work at both Roseville and Stockton.
By the way, there's a $2000+ "dealer incentives" for the Pilot. I think it's closer to the $3000.

Can you tell me where you heard about the dealer incentive? there was some discussion earlier on this forum of that one and it turned out it wasnt true. But I have got mails from 2 dealers quoting me 1000 below invoice .. price of 28361. I am still deciding what to do.

I know there's a $2000 dealer incentives because the sales person told me. I asked myself: if they are willing to take off $1000 so easily and still make a profit, how big do you think is the incentive? Also, Consumer Reports states there's a $1044??? holdback. If you're getting a quote of 28361 for a 2007 Honda Pilot 4WD EXL with Nav, then I would take it.

The 28631 is for a 07 EX-L 2WD without Nav. thats the best I have seen. I havent read/heard anybody getting anything better yet except one of them from Dallas.

Funny you should mention that dealership because I spent hours dealing with them on the internet and we finalized a price. I went in to confirm in person and they said it was a go and could have the car in within an hour. I came back 3 hours later and they conveniently made a $1000 mistake on the price. Everything guaranteed via email was worthless and they completely baited me in and 5 minutes before I handed them the check, they raised the price and wouldn't negotiate at all. It was your typical scummy sales job by this dealership and will never recommend or buy from them!

The acquisition fee is charged by the bank that leases you the car (Honda Finance, most likely). Their base fee is $595, I think.

It is basically a revenue bump for the bank.. the dealer doesn't get any of it. I think almost every single bank/finance company in the country charges it.

McDavid Irving quoted me $30,342 for a 2007 EX-L 2WD w/ NAV today. Did you find out if they would throw out that bogus charge for a protection package?

In my reply to McDavid this evening I asked if the quoted price (plus TT&L) was an out-the-door price or if they would try to hit me with hidden charges if I agreed to a test drive. I haven't heard back yet but I'm sure I will tomorrow.

Initial quotes so far in the DFW area for an EX-L 2WD w/ NAV:

McDavid Irving - $30,342
McDavid Frisco - $31,839
McKinney - $31,339
Frank Kent - $31,683

All quotes are good until the end of this month (Thursday 11/30).

$2,000 factory to dealer cash??

I would like to hear this from someone else out there.

My local Honda dealer said there was no cash after I specifically asked.

They were offering some decent interest rates starting
at 3.9%.
