For those looking in the Raleigh NC area. I bought my EX-L on June 29th for $27,870 + Dest $515 = $28,285.00 Tax Doc fee tag made OTD of $29,680.55. Added tow pkg for $985 for final of $30,695.10. No trade-in. Took 01 Impala to Carmax later for $5100. Contact Internet Office at Leith Honda. DO NOT walk-in any dealer. Other good dealers were: Hendrick Honda, Woodbridge VA for OTD of $30,067.74 includes door edge guards, wheel well guards, pin stripes, mud guards, floor mats and wheel locks. (Offer for add-ons may not be in effect now of course) Burlington Honda, Burlington NC OTD = $30,159.00 Hendrick Honda, Easley SC = $30,228.82. Hendricks Honda, Charlotte NC OTD = $30,260.25 All very professional and courteous. Can't recommend Landmark Honda in alexandria VA. Salesperson had an attitude with my wife when he found out we bought somewhere else. |

| I just received two internet quotes from the same dealer - 2005 EX $25,393- OTD- $27,979 and an 2005 EX-L $27,504- OTD $30,216. This would include a prepaid registration for four years. Seems like a good deal, but will the prices get any better?? The other problem is the longer I wait the less of a selection they will have. So are these decent prices or can I do better? | |

A friend of mine is thinking of purchasing a used 2003 pilot ex-L for 21.5k vehicle does have DVD but no navigation. leather interior car has about 23k miles on it. Car seems to be in very good shape but I suggested he take it to a HONDA dealership before closing the deal. assuming it checks ok, does the price seem fair? thanks in advance for any feedback

OTD would have been $27,9xx something. Of course, once I got there he didn't have the color I wanted, so I ended up with my second choice color. "This one has optional wheel locks and mud guards, that's normally a $400 extra, but I won't charge you any for it." Interestingly enough, just the day before I had visited the Costco designated Honda dealer (Costco price was invoice + $100= $27,300 by the way). The dealer explained just that racket for me. "Sometimes we have to trade cars with other dealers, they usually put wheel locks and mud guards on their cars. It costs them $140 to do, so we have to pay that to them. However, they usually charge the customer $400 for it." Anyway, at this point I haven't even mentioned my trade in. So, we confirm the price of $25,808, then I mention my trade in. I had an 11 year old Accord with 145,000 miles on it in mechanically OK shape, but with messed up bumpers. I wanted at least $2,000 for it. They offered me $1,500. I said I wanted 2, they countered with 1,800, and I said let's split the difference and do $1,900. Hand shake. Done deal.. That's my story. I've had the Pilot for almost a week now, and I've put 400 miles on it. I like the ride a lot, and I think it's a good quality car. I love the space, and the pick up power. I enjoy the high seating and the fact that I can see brake lights so far up ahead that I can avoid the panic stop when all of a sudden traffic slows for no apparent reason. My only concern is that the car is so quiet, that there is an annoying noice coming from the driver's door somewhere. It's really not much of a noice, but with the cabin so quiet I can really hear it. I wish I could figure out what it is and how to fix it...

| Thanks to the postings on this board, I was able to purchase an EX-L this past weekend for $27,700 (including dest). The final price OTD (including mud flaps, cross bars, doc fees and temp registration) was $28,100. I will pay sales tax when I register the vehicle in my home state. Thanks especially to lawduck for providing specific dealer info. So far we love the Pilot! | |

Replying to: larsca (Aug 14, 2005 8:12 am) I assume the $25708 price includes the destination charge? And the $100 extra is for the wheel locks and mud guards? A dealer told me today that Honda is going to up the destination charge to $565 after Aug 20. Anyone else heard this? Thanks for sharing!
