Well I picked up my Blue Steel Metallic Ex-L last night from Rossi Honda in Vineland NJ for $27,940. Out the door was $27,940 - $5,900 Trade in + $1,341.06 Tx + $86 Reg Fee/Tire Tax + $97.00Doc Fee = $23,564.06. If you add back the trade in it was $29,464.06. Overall it was the best deal out there for me as no other dealer came close. |

I have been soliciting quotes from dealers all over western OR, and I heard back from one saying he could get me the EX in the mid-26K range, but could not go below $28K for the EX-L. What are the best prices anyone in Oregon has gotten recently for an EX-L? How do I proceed once they've given me their initial quote but I think they can do better?

Replying to: lawduck (Jul 30, 2005 9:01 am) EXL 27600+130 ( Dealer Accessories)+ dmv ( $218) = $27949 OTD I bought EXL. The same way they proceed. They start with high MSRP and come down You do the reverse . Start with offereing 25.5 ( OTD) for EX and slowly go up. or 27.5 ( OTD ) for EXL. Keep sending them mails even if they reject. Keep communication open. |

| I was curious if anyone who has previously bought a Pilot or similar vehicle, found any significant price difference from August prices to the September/October prices when the next years models were released. I am in the South Florida area and so far the lowest internet quote I have received for a Honda Pilot EX-L is $27, 969 including the destination charge. If anyone else in the South Florida area has gotten better let me know. | |

First of all, thanks everyone in the forum who shared their buying experience and dealer's name. I quoted prices from different dealers. The lowest price that I've gotten was from Planet Honda, OTD 30500. But I had very BAD buying experience at that dealer. I will not recommend anybody to go there because they seem to give you a good price over the phone. But after you got there, they try to fool you around and try to sell you a demo piece with that price. I picked up my Sage brush EXL with running boards and wheel locks today. Nice color and nice price. I am from NYC, but purchased it from Academy Honda, NJ. I have to pay new york tax which is 8.375% and new york reg fee. The car is 27,626 (including dest fee) + 695 (Running boards and wheel locks + labor) + 8.375 newyork tax + ny reg fee + 99.7 doc fee = 30922.

| It can be done. Just be patient and follow the advice on Edmunds.com. I had never heard of internet car buying before last week. I requested quotes from 6 dealers through Edmunds, most of whom are identified on this site. The best quotes came from NJ, but I live in PA and wanted to buy closer to home. I did not answer any telephone calls. I just consistently responded to emails from the dealer internet sales persons and graciously held my ground. When the dealer with whom I was most comfortable dropped to match the quote of 26,000 TOTAL (including $515 Destination), I set up an appointment. I had already used email to get my credit report and a good rate for financing (I have good credit). My experience at the dealer in North Phila. was excellent. No nonsense, No pressure. The salesman knew that I knew the information on this bulletin board. Just be smart and work the steps. Get the price you want before you talk to anyone. Know your credit score. Have internet sponsored financing approved before you go to the dealer. Set up the appointment and be confident. I am totally satisfied with the experience. YOU hold the trump card... 2005 Pilots are selling for great prices right now. Buy a Pilot EX for $26,000 plus tax and tags. Mine is sitting in my driveway! | |

lim1 It appears you got a great deal for NYC. If you would not mind how did the OTD price come up to 30k. Did the 27004 include destination? What other dealer costs were involved. Fred

Thanks to Pakya and others on this board who posted information about their strategy and prices they got in Oregon, I was able to get my EX-L today for $27,800 (Including dest. charge) + just $218 OR DMV fees for $28,018 OTD! I had never really heard of the edmonds site but stumbled upon it the other day, and followed the internet buying strategy. I solicited quotes from about 10 dealers in the area, then once I was finally able to get a quote below my budget constraint, I took it to a local dealer who matched it and I was on my way (I even got my first choice in color - Silver!). Initially, I had several internet sales managers tell me I was crazy to think I could get the EX-L at under $28K, but that's exactly what I was able to do. Thanks again for your help folks and I am very pleased with my 2005 Pilot EX-L
